10 years post gastric bypass surgery !! having a hard time finding love

Recommended Posts

I find online dating is full of scammers pretending to be somebody that they’re not. I just don’t feel safe doing it anymore. My plans once I get my surgery and get to the point where I can be active again is to start going to meetups like hiking and biking. That’s a great way to meet people in general and then who knows.
I found my husband on a online dating site in 2007, married in 2009 and still together. Had my RNY 11/01, down 55lbs, from 310lbs. This surgery is the best thing i ever did. Good luck!!!

Hello everyone,

I see as I read all of the recent postings that you all are pretty new to this new life you now have, but I would love to help anyone who needs advise on anything about whatever is on your minds.

I had my surgery on march 28 th 2011. I was 422 pounds and today I am 119 pounds at 5 ft 7 tall. And since then I have not found a love in my life as most do not understand all of the things that comes with the new you. Anyone also having this problem?

My name is Athena

I had a sleeve to bypass revision 7 weeks ago. I can only eat about 1 oz of food at a time. I've tried three different Protein Shakes, they all literally make me sick after about 1/4 of the shake. I can feel it churning and gurgling in my chest. I can't get my Protein in with just food. I am not getting all my supplements taken, it's like eating a meal taking the big Calcium pills. I really am frustrated. I need to weigh or measure everything I put in my mouth, which is fine. I was severely dehydrated last weekend. I should have gone to the ER but the wait time is up to 10 hours. I knew I wasn't drinking enough. I didn't know how to prioritize supplements, protein and drinking. My skin was very dry, my lips stayed chapped for two weeks prior to the sudden onset of uncontrollable vomiting and an instant pounding headache. Not a Migraine but a headache that I couldn't get rid of. That was Saturday a week ago. I talked to my surgeon in Dallas Sunday. He wasn't to make sure my abdomen wasn't hurting. He said if I started running a fever 100 or above get to the ER. I'm 2.5 hours away from him. I started doing better, I was drinking Pedialyte mixed with no sugar added grape juice like crazy. I ended up drinking 2.5 bottles, 33.8 oz each, and grape juice and two cups of lactose free milk every day. I'm back to eating again, trying to. I've thrown up twice today, I woke up at 4:30 AM yesterday and threw up. I haven't had nearly enough to drink, eat and I've taken 1/3 of the calcium I should be taking. Any advice at all? Thank you.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
