Uncontrolled Nausea

Recommended Posts

Hi! I am almost a week post op VSG and have extreme nausea! I can’t even stomach Water or my Powerade zero. I have been forcing myself to drink my 2 Fairlife shakes to get my 60 grams of Protein in but that’s all the intake I can tolerate. I might be able to get 20-30 ounces of other Fluid down during the day. I sip slowly like I’m supposed to, sit up when I’m drinking and I’m even taking Zofran once to twice a day but it gives me a terrible headache. Did anyone else have this issue and any advice? And please tell me it goes away soon!

I didn’t have that issue but I wonder if there is another anti nausea Med. I know in the hospital I had a patch that goes behind the ear for nausea and that worked for me. I would call the dr. No need to suffer if there is a medication you can get.

I was given a stomach acid reducer by my surgeon it helped me the most call your Dr I still get nauseous and I’ve check my blood sugar which is usually high as well so maybe blood sugar is part of the issue?

Give your surgeon a call. Headaches can be a side effect of taking zofran. There are other types of anti nausea meds you could try you might have more success with.

Hope you feel better soon.

Call your surgeon's office. You shouldn't still be nauseous from the anesthesia this long after surgery. Something's going on.

I am 3 1/2 months out, and have struggled with nausea/queasiness every day. They say it will get better, but not yet. There ARE meds-ask your doctor! I am on two different ones, and after a couple of months, started taking more of them than prescribed--after looking them up and finding out his dosage was on the low end, and I was not going to poison myself. Call your doc-and be VOCAL!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
