Yes I am 7 days post op as well I did the sleeve and I don’t feel like me anymore but I still have hope that it’s just the newness of the surgery and it will get better. But you’re not alone in your feelings.

Thank you so much for responding. I have felt like no one else feels this way.

My surgery was 2/22/22 and I had some major complications. I had internal bleeding and lost almost half of my blood volume. Then I had severe pain when eating and had to be admitted for 6 days for a PICC and TPN. Was released last Saturday. Still have intermittent severe pain when eating but am working through it. Doc has set me up with thrice-weekly fluid/vitamin infusions since I am only getting about 20-30 oz of fluids per day. I also can't transition to soft foods yet since I have a blood clot in my new pouch (which is what's causing all the pain) so it's just shakes for a few more days. I haven't regretted my decision to have the surgery yet but just wish I could get back to somewhat normalcy.

hello, I hope you are feeling better today.

I am having a weird psychological thing right now. Although we had a freakishly cold day in GA yesterday, it is time to start putting away winter clothes and pull out spring/summer clothes. I know I should probably go ahead and donate the winter things. Many are too big now just 5 weeks post op. But I keep thinking, “What if I don’t lose weight?” I really like clothes so I will be storing a lot if I hang on to them. Any advice?

Anyone here find out they were pregnant in the first few months after surgery? Can surgery improve fertility?

I did the surgery to improve fertility. I have a hormone iud and was told by my surgeon I have to wait for at least 1 year before trying to get pregnant.

It’s 4 weeks post surgery for me and I am still having problems meeting my Water and Protein daily requirements. I feel like my weight loss is slow. I also feel like I’m not in a good place mentally sometimes. I have to keep reminding myself that my body IS a machine that I have to keep running well. If I don’t eat & drink as I should, I will feel all sorts of lethargy and negativity which in turn makes it more difficult to exercise and move. I’m very grateful that I have a wonderful medical support team whom I’m meeting monthly (used to be weekly) but sometimes it’s hard getting out of my head.

Thank you for posting! I had to get my IUD removed because of to much bleeding so I’m not sure what my chances are for getting pregnant.

I was told to use two forms of protection for the first year post-op because rapid weight loss can make you SUPER fertile. My program wants folks to not get pregnant for the first 2 years post-op.

Let them go find a new home, you're never going to need those clothes again. Find a consignment place if you can so you can warn some money towards your new wardrobe!!

Thank you sharing! I wasn’t told much but I’m sure it’s because before surgery I mentioned to the surgeon that fertility has been a HUGE issue for us.

I did this so in the future me and my husband can have a child because of infertility issues from being over weight. My doctors said not to get pregnant for atleast 18-24 months because my body wouldn’t be able to support a child and myself with proper nutrition and would cause a high risk of complications during pregnancy.

Where I am at, the cost of assisted pregnancy procedures are mostly borne by the govt until the age of 40. I’m turning 37 this year. I hope my doctor doesn’t change his mind about the 1 year wait. But one step at a time I suppose.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...
