So I’m really disappointed I didn’t stick to my diet plan. I had the sleeve done last year in June and here it is December and I’ve only lost 40 pounds. I’m a complete failure. No one to blame but myself but recently my hair started falling out. It used to be super thick and long. Now it’s really thin and shorter. I thought Hair loss happened in the beginning, not this far out? Any advice would be great!!

you can still lose weight because you'll still have the restriction - the only issue is the hunger suppression may not be as strong at this point.

Hair loss usually doesn't start right away - for a lot of people it starts around three months out, but it can be even later. Mine was months 5-9. I remember reading somewhere that if it doesn't start by about six months out, you're probably not going to experience it - but you're still in that range, so...

You might not be getting enough Protein and Vitamins bc of your diet. If you can maybe talk to your primary care doc about blood work to check your levels incase they are low.
How can we help you? Need support, the group to help motivate you, help hold you accountable? I have noticed there are so many caring ppl in the group that are very knowledgeable and willing to help! You can do this and don’t have to do it alone! Start from square 1…why did you do this in the first place and then want it so bad that your willing to do anything to achieve those goals!

I'm only about 3.5 months out, but my nutritionist told me in order to avoid Hair loss, to focus on getting Protein through high quality protein supplements like Bariatric Advantage. She told me to aim for 8 scoops per day (gag) - I frickin hate the Protein Shakes, but if it will help with hair loss, I'll do it.

they probably won't stop it completely, but not getting enough protein will likely make it worse! So yea - meeting the protein and Vitamin requirements will help!

Nope, dear. You just had a learning experience. And 'complete failures' don't reach out for help, so I think we fact checked this statement and found it untrue ... :).

If you feel like it, go talk to your bariatric team. You may very well benefit from a surgery that gives you more hormonal help than a sleeve.

First, however, maybe worth talking to a therapist that has experience (this is important) with eating issues. It's much easier to fix your body when your head is clearer.

I have heard people on here say they were slower losers and they kept losing weight up till the two year mark. You have not failed. You can still do this.

I agree with other posters. You have not failed. The only way to fail is to stop trying. Work on eating more Protein, drinking more Water, tracking your eating, meeting with a therapist, talking with your doctor about an appetite suppressant such as phentermine or metformin (I've been taking metformin since a month after surgery since I was one of the unlucky 20% that never lost my hunger), and keeping on these boards.

You've got this!

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.
