Anyone afraid that they are ugly thin?

Recommended Posts

The younger people are so lucky to have the band at a young age. I wish I would have found out about it years ago.

Now that I have lost weight, I have a turkey neck and wrinkles showing up all over my face. I hate it. I want a face lift but I heard they cost 25,000.00. I just may get one some day if

I inherit any money. That's a lot of money to shell out, but I hate looking in the mirror.

Maybe as we loose weight, since we can no longer focus on being fat, we focus on some other minor imperfection. Maybe some of us develope body dismorphic disorder or our disorder starts focusing on something else. Who knows!

I think you might have something there.

Notice that the people around here who are happiest with their bodies are the people with other interests?

I love the way I look and feel now. I hated the way I looked at 237. I feel so much healthier now. I have lots more energy. I still have a way to go, but this has been great for me. Donna

I know what you mean Karen.. I can look at pics of me from about 5 years ago and I had SUCH A PRETTY FACE!! When I see pics of me now, my nose and chin look odd.. I don't see the prettiness I use to.

I can relate to this. I realized one day that I got old while I was fat The rooster thing going on under my chin, the fine wrinkles around my eyes... it's awful. My gut is the worst, yuck! Before I got fat I was pretty nice looking if I do say so myself.

Hey girls! My cousin is a plastic surgeon and he said that Retin-A from Johnson& Johnson is good for under eye circles.

I have been thin before.

I look completely different!

I am absolutely gorgeous when I'm small.

My features are shaper and prettier.

The doc I work with even said wow your face looks so much thinner and prettier.

She's in her 70's and she just noticed I've lost almost 50 pounds!

I haven't been banded yet, but its a chance I'm willing to take.

Besides, I'm married to my second (and last husband) and I never thought of myself as pretty at any age or size, so if i look worse thin...no big deal to me.:noidea:

I saw myself as thin as I want to be 10 years ago at 17. I love those pics of myself. I think I looked great. I didn't have the confidence at that time to go with the looks, sadly. I am much more confident in myself now than I was then, which is really strange to me! But I definitely look forward to being thin. I know I'll probably have some wrinkles because honestly I don't take THAT great of care of my face (yes...I'll pay for this one). But the wrinkles I will take over the fat any day!

I'm not worried about being ugly thin, because back when I was thin (15 years ago) I was beautiful, but I'm definitely worried about looking my age. Not that I'm old, will be 35 in a couple of weeks, but I usually say "29" because I can still get away with it. I hope I can still get away with 29 in another 6 months, but if I can't oh well, because I will definitely be healthier. And I'll be beautiful anyway!

I love your confidence, Blue Eyed Kitty.

I will always wish I had gotten the band a few years ago. I think I look really pretty in the pictures of me when I was 25, but even though I am now thinner, I don't have that kind of confidence.

Close friends and family have noticed too that I have more wrinkles now that I am thinner. I will take wrinkles over fat too,

but I wish it didn't have to be one or the other.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.
