Gastric Bypass Yesterday

Recommended Posts

I had my surgery yesterday November 23rd and it went well. I also had hernia repair at the same time. So far I am not in much pain just a little discomfort. The nurses were surprised at how well I was doing. I drank two bottles of Water. Took me several hours but I got and keep it down. No Nausea and i have I walked every our sometimes twice an hour to help with the gas. For now the gas discomfort is completely tolerable. The worst pain was my throat from the intubation, but still tolerable. I just made my first Bariatric Fusion shake today and so far so good. Just slipping on water in between. I know I will probably have some bad days, but I’m happy the start has been really good.

So glad you are doing well.
They made my daughter drink from a medicine cup every 15 min.
I wasn’t a true “bariatric” so the orthopedic floor didn’t know what to do with me.

They told me in the beginning that I would be a medicine cup, but when they saw I well I drank from the bottle. I guess said never mind to the medicine up.

Congrats! I did similarly well with Water post-op and had the hernia repair too. Glad your pain isn't too bad, and hope it stays manageable when you get home.

Roughest part is done - go you!

Congratulations! My RNY was last Friday, the day after Thanksgiving. I'm doing good drinking. I posted on another page, I'm a little worried because I'm taking bigger drinks than the medicine cup. I took Tylenol (liquid) at noon today and I was fine until 9 PM. I took a pain pill at 6:30 this morning and then again a little while ago. My breast bone and down my left side is very sore, but all in all, I'm going goo. No hunger at all right now. I'm glad it's over with and I'm on the road to recovery. Good luck, keep us all posted!!

Congratulations. I am getting my procedure done tomorrow. Kinda feeling jittery and a little anxious. But hoping things go well and I can come out here and post a similar story.

Good Luck with your remaining journey.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
