Hello! I'm scheduled for a gastric bypass in the end of November and I've started my pre op diet to lose a few pounds before the surgery. My nutritionist put me on a VLCD with these shakes and Soups + some Protein and vegetables. Have anyone of you gone through this and have some tips for me? The first few days I was naseous and tired, but now it's kinda ok. What I'm asking is tips and hacks for anyone going through this diet, which is super restrictive and quiet honestly it's gonna be hard to pull this of for the coming 5 weeks. I'm aware that it's also gonna be hard after surgery but I still have the same size stomach so. So do you have any lifesaving tips or recipes or anything? [emoji3590]

My favorite thing to have on that diet was steak and whole onion on the grill. I knew I wouldn’t be having steak for quite a while post surgery and the onion really added flavor to the dish. It’s off cause steak is not usually a favorite of mine but I think it was the onion. You just peel it and spray some cooking spray on alumimum Foil then wrap onion in it and bake on grill till done. It takes a while. Like an hour. I suppose it can be made in the oven too. I’ve just never tried it as I live in florida and we prefer to cook outside whenever possible.

Mmm onion sound delicious! I'll be more experimental with the little things I can eat. I'll make some chicken and onion with some cheese and broccoli or something.

My preop diet starts on the 3rd of November for 3 weeks. I have given it lots of thought while I waited. I am allowed veg, milk and yogurt. My go to, will be Thai Soups and salads. I have bought in lots of Water noodles as they are only 4 cals a packet. I like them better than courgetti. They do fill you up.

When I get fed up of those I will have soups - carrot and coriander, mushroom and onion are favourite's . Then there is vegetable curries with cauliflower rice.

I have had a lot of time on these pages and will use all the knowledge I have picked up. Onwards and downwards

I hit my stall ALREADY 🤷🏽‍♀️ been at 300 for almost a week. I’m not worried about it though, because I know that my body is healing. I’m not in a rush, I loss 30 pounds since surgery which was 3 weeks ago. I’m just going with the flow and staying positive. 😁

It's very common. Give your body a chance to "catch up" with its new reality and the weight loss will start again. Hang in there, I know it can be frustrating!

First Orangetheory class back after surgery! #347 for me. Determined to take things easy- especially those ab exercises. Looking forward to hitting #350 this week.

I loss 19 pounds my first 7 days post op 🙌🏽 (Water weight or real weight.. weight is weight to me.. I’ll take it lol) I make sure I keep my water with me 24.7 and I walk every chance I get. I cook dinner for my kids with no problems. I have zero cravings!  By next week I should be in the 200’s. Haven’t been there since high school 🥲

Well, starting day 2 after surgery. Felling hunger pains again this morning and nausea, no vomiting. I think the hunger pains are coming from my stomach and not my pouch. Think I will call their hotline and speak with them about it. It is not terribly bad but it is uncomfortable. I do not regret getting the surgery though. I expected some discomfort right after, I just didn't expect the hunger pains.
