3 Weeks after Surgery,

Recommended Posts

i had my surgery on nov 19th and am three weeks out also. somedays i am really hungry and somedays im not to bad. sometimes i find myself eating something just because it there. old habits die hard. i am trying to be aware of what i put into my mouth and if i am really hungry. i have gotten food stuck at least 6 times now you would think that i would learn and slow down. if i am up moving around thats when i tend to eat one bite right after another and not really focusing on how fast i am eating it. if i sit down i tend to eat slower. i need to work on this. i cant wait to get a fill i hope it works, i hear that it may take 3-4 fills. i lost 16 pounds within 15 days and now my weight loss is slowing down. it doesnt help that i am cheating on a bite here and there. i had two x-mas parties over the weekend and my son and husbands birthdays were one day apart so i had something each day that i wasnt suppose to have. i am aware of how it is easy to slip backwards so i am really trying to be aware of eating bad foods. i did have surgery for a reason but its hard to pass up things that youve eaten most of your life. at least i get full quicker now then before surgery and am still eating less than pre surgery. i am trying to keep the calories around 900-1000. how are all of you 3 week banders doing? have you had pbing, are you sticking faithfully to the diet?

Dr. Watkins,

Quick question. At two weeks post op I had a tiny end of a suture sticking out of one of my incisions. At my two week check up the doc pulled it out a bit and clipped it off. Good to go. Two to three days later three more sutures popped out. I gently tugged at them, but they have not "melted" inside, so were still attached. I was afraid to pull them. My regular doc said to leave them alone and I have no sign of infection. My question is, with these little things poking through, can I swim in a pool yet? I'm terrified of infection.

Aubrie,

I wouldn't go in a pool or submerge the incisions under Water with suture poking out.

Interesting some people's skin will "spit" the dissolving sutures out. I would recommend making an appointment with your surgeon and have them take them out so the skin can move on with what it does best - heal.

Hope that helps

brad

I have met 2 Band Docs, Dr. Watkins on this site (not in person) and my doc here in Texas, Dr. John Marsden. I am a nurse, and let me tell you, surgeons are not usually as nice and personable to deal with as these 2 docs are. Both are natural teachers and really sold on the banding procedure. I was soooo nervous the day before surgery, but Dr. Marsden just explained everything down to the smallest detail, and kept saying "you're gonna love it.....you're gonna love it...." Two weeks post-op, and I love it!:bandit

Congratulations TXbandit,

Band surgeons are usually nice because the patients are so amazingly cool. It's very rewarding work to say the least. You guys do all the hard work. Surgery doesn't hurt us one bit!

Thanks Dr. Watkins!!! I put in a call and sent an email to my surgeon regarding the suture spitting. I'll steer clear of the pool.

Wow, I Have Not Even Had Surgery Yet But What An Encouragement Dr. Watkins Is. I Have Never Been A Star, Crap I Have Never Been Worth Anything. I Want To Live Life Skinny At Least Once. I Can Only Imagine What Its Like.

Everyone is worthy DOCOP, life's cruelest myth is that people come in varying value. It's not true. Some act better than others, some look better than others, but every life has intrinsic value. You have value dearest, and you will reach your goals.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
