Good Morning. My name is John. I'm a 45 year old male and I'm 3 weeks post SADI-S surgery. My surgery went amazingly well. I had no real pain issues. I think I took pain meds 4 times in the hospital and haven't taken anything since coming home. I think I've been very fortunate as far as that is concerned. I'm still working on recognizing my bodies signals but it's coming along. I guess my biggest problem right now is being restless. I sleep fine at night but during the day I get antsy if I sit for more than about 45 minutes. Right now I'm working from home so I can get up and walk around the house or walk up and down the street a little. I'm more concerned about when I go back to the office. However, I can't complain at all. My surgery went well and I'm doing great post surgery.

You have extra energy now!

It’s probably been a while since you’ve felt it but you’ll get used to it eventually and figure out what to use it on.

Congratulations!

Glad to hear you are doing so well. That first week can be very challenging. Hopefully, the restlessness will ease. Good luck with your return to the office.

Thank you. I'm both looking forward to it and not looking forward to it. I've been wearing shorts and tee shirts since my surgery. I'm sure most of my work clothes don't fit now. I'll have to hit the thrift stores.

Right now I just go and do some walking. I can't wait til I can ride my bike again. I'm hoping I'll get cleared for full activity after my next appointment.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
