11 months out weight loss

Recommended Posts

Anyone out 11 months from bypass? What is your weight loss amount? Mine is 102 from surgery, 132 total. I'm far behind. My biggest problem is drinking my calories. Tired if Water, but get so dehydrated.

Idk. It sounds to me like you are doing well. I am five months out and I am down only 35 pounds since surgery 50 total. Have you tried crystal light. There are tons of flavors and you have to mix two packets for a gallon so you can even mix and match to make new flavors.

a 100-lb loss at the year mark is definitely within the average range (depending on your starting BMI - people with lower starting BMI's probably won't by down that much at that point), so you're fine.

Thanks for the support. I do use the drink mixes. I use the Hi-C ones. They're the only ones that I have found that do not contain aspartame in it. Congratulations on your weight loss as well.

Thank you. Do you understand how to do figure the BMI? I don't. I went to a program, put in the weight I last felt good at and that I got a lot of compliments at and it said I was still obese! My doctor said my goal weight was up to me. Did anyone's doctor tell them what their goal should be or leave it up to them?

Laurie C. My dr left the goal weight up to me. There are BMI calculators online. They will tell you what the normal BMI range is for your height but also if you complete that info In your profile it will calculate your current BMI for you.

Pretty darn good. Just stick to what you are doing.

Did you ever try Sodastream bubly drops - fruit essence, Zero calorie (no sugar, no artificial sweetener)? I struggled with plain Water all the time and don’t like artificial sweetener. These are meant to be put in water after you carbonate (Sodastream) but I use them in plain water and really like them (about 3/4 tsp per liter, but you can do more or less to adjust to your taste).

Great job at the one year mark!

Have not tried that one. Is it hard to find? I have restless leg syndrome and know that aspartame aggravates it. The drinks I have been drinking have sucralose in them. Anyone know if that's just as bad for you? I thought it was better.

Shouldn't they have your frame size? The ones I see only have height and weight.

Most dont consider frame size. That’s why it’s such a broad range. 123-164 for 5’8” for example is all “normal” weight.

I have found it on Amazon, target, Walmart, (grocery stores and online) some flavors may be harder to find than others but I can usually find something I like in stock locally. One bottle is about 5.99, but a little goes a long way.

I also use a zero Water filter. The slightest chemical taste really makes it hard for me to drink water, so having crisp clean water and then adding a little flavor sometimes has made it much easier to get 64 Oz a day in.

I can't do any Water filters. My mother is elderly and has dementia. Everything I buy disappears! It's so hard! And expensive to lose! I've wasted so much money.

Even if it’s like the kind that the plumber installs under the sink??

That's an idea. I should just use the one on the fridge door upstairs. But I live downstairs. It's harder to get up and down the stairs carrying things with my knees. Need a double knee replacement next. Thx!

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
