Hi, I'm 10 days out from surgery and I'm on the soft food stage for the next month. I was wondering if it's okay to use seasoning on foods? Like salt pepper, garlic powder etc. I just realized this morning how terrible eggs taste without seasoning 😂

I’m only 20 days out, but I have been using salt and chili powder on my eggs with no negative consequences. Other things get seasoned well too.
I’d rather stay on liquids than eat bland food.

yes - it's fine. I was pretty sensitive to spicy food the first few weeks (fortunately, that didn't last long as I love spicy food!), but as long as you can tolerate whatever seasonings you use, they're fine

I used seasonings without any issue. Some people can’t do spicy early out like others said so keep that in mind.

I had no problems at all with seasonings and like future skydiver (love the name I’ve always wanted to do it and now I’m not afraid of snapping the harness) said, it helped keep me on the mushies longer. For me, nothing felt any worse than pre op spicy wise, if I could handle it before it was the same after.

Oh, yeah season to your heart & your tummy’s content. Just watch herbs to begin - they can be too coarse & dry & also watch spices as your tummy can be a bit sensitive for a while.

I just had a teaspoon of hummus with a teaspoon of avocado topped with a teaspoon of greek yogurt and it. was. GLORIOUS. I'm four days out and my surgeon gave me the greenlight to work in small amounts of pureed food.

😫 Hi, I’m new to bariatricpal! I am 8 days post op VSG. I am struggling very badly. I’ve been so emotional because I feel like I’m doing wrong. I’m afraid I’ll eat or drink to fast or eat the wrong thing. I’ve been on Pinterest and YouTube constantly for help. I have followed all of my surgeons and dieticians instructions. I just don’t know if my body is getting enough. Today, I am weak, sore, and just exhausted.

It passes!! Everyone goes though it! It is a short term emotion! I'm almost five years post op! You made the right decision! Don't focus on the change right now. Try to entertain your mind. What your feeling only last about a week. It's related to your body adjusting and you mind adjusting. You got this!!

I agree with Tara it's hard right now but it gets better do t forget your hormones will be all over the place you may even feel depressed. Be kind to yourself reach out and talk to people how you are feeling .
