Tubal ligation followed by WLS or other combo surgeries

Recommended Posts

I'm considering having my tubes tied followed by weight loss surgery, performed laparoscopically, back to back, on the same day. I was planning on having RNY until the physicians assistant told me my surgeon may not agree to tubal ligation followed by RNY. I may have to switch to tubal ligation followed by a gastric sleeve.

A couple of weeks ago I was scheduled for the Nexplanon birth control implant. I realized at my age, (early 40s) I'm ready for something permanent. I'd tried to get my tubes tied in my mid and late 20s but was turned down by two OB/GYNs.

In over a month I have a consult with a great OB/GYN and later with my surgeon. I'm sure I'll get some clarity after those visits but I'd like a perspective from someone who's had this specific surgery or another combo like WLS+ gallbladder removal.

How long were you out of work or when did you start to feel like yourself again?

Did you have any side effects related to the tubal part of the surgery?

Anything you wished you'd known before surgery?

I don't know about the tubal ligation, but there are a lot of people who have WLS and gallbladder removal at the same time. In fact, a few years ago, that was kind of common, even if the patient didn't have gall bladder issues (now they usually just do it if you have gall bladder problems). Hopefully someone who's had it will respond!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
