Is applesauce an option? And i’m allowed hot cereals (grits and oatmeal) but plain .. i’m allowed to eat pudding, but why can’t i put small amount of cheese in the grits lol

So what type of surgery is everyone planning on getting? And was it the surgery you were going to get and your Dr changed your mind???

I knew I would do best with the RNY. My doctor tried to talk me into the sleeve. After the endoscopy he was shocked at how bad the Barrett’s, GERD, hiatal hernia was and agreed that the bypass was best for me!

Thanks for starting this thread @TinDe. My date with surgery is August 12, if insurance agrees. I’m a teacher so I’m concerned that the start of school is so close, and I hope I heal enough by that time. I’m more concerned about the insurance to tell you the truth.

I also have Barrett's, GERD and a hiatal hernia (which they are supposed to repair during surgery) so really RNY was my only option. My biggest concerns are the dumping and the malabsorption of vitamins/meds.

My surgeon allows sugar free applesauce. I can’t have any cheese but I don’t know the reason. LOL. I have been putting a bit of non sugar sweetener and cinnamon on my oatmeal and it’s been pretty good. 🙂

I've heard about Torani sugar free syrups. I've tried some that I bought at Bed bath and beyond. Can't remember the name. Skinny Syrup or something. They're actually pretty good. I think they could jazz up anything!! The Torani brand has tons of flavors. I found this blog http://theworldaccordingtoeggface.blogspot.com/p/links-resources.html . There's a lot of info in there and some recipes that look really good!!

I’m having the sleeve. I was originally interested in the RNY but he talked me out of it.

I am having RNY, which was what I was planning all along. I did have some second thoughts after seeing so many people have such great success with VSG. After talking with the surgeon, we decided on RNY.

Hi! I’m scheduled for gastric bypass on 8/2 and am on the liquid pre-op diet now. Nice to meet everyone!

Me too! How is your liquid diet going? Yesterday it was pretty good for me. Today for some reason I’m really hungry. I’m halfway there though!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
