Is this right?

Recommended Posts

Hi all been some time from my last post, I need to hear from others just to see if how i feel is right, I have had lots of fills and nothing i lost well in the 1st 6 months, its been the odd LB from then on, in Oct i had a fill what was done by Flo it was bad but i put that down to the lady who done it! she 1st over filled it and nothing would go down i got her to take some out in half ml goes till the Water would go down,

Any way still didn't lose anything over the next 6 weeks went back on the 6th Dec and saw my doc he did a blind fill but unlike the silly *** who did the last one didn't hurt me and took out all that was in it and added a ml so i now know what is in it,(7ml)

right now for the point of this post....

All i can do is have very small drinks and then by late afternoon i can eat a very small bit of Pasta but thats it, if i try and eat i am sick and it hurts i don't know if this is right, If it is and i have to learn to live like this for the band to be a working tool then so be it but I'm worried its over filled and will do harm,

Thank you for any help out there

Cherie x

i cant speak from experience but can tell you what my paperwork says on here and alot of banders say on here... after ur fill my dr says.. 2 days of liquid diet followed by 2 days of mushies then regular foods.... you need to let the swelling go down ... call ur dr and get more info! i have to say i'm so pleased with the amount of information i have from my dr... a huge packet full of information..answers to questions..and there were several seminars i had to go to to learn about lap band..call your' dr and find out if ur suppoed to be on liquids after ur fill... gl

Some and maybe even most LBers find that it is hard to eat anything in the morning and afternoon but by late evening they loosen up and can eat dinner. Just think of it like the slimfast diet: a shake for Breakfast, a shake for lunch, then a sensible dinner. If you feel that you are too tight for your comfort I would suggest an unfill, but I think most find this style ok and it jumpstarts the weight loss. If you can tolerate it, I would say it is a common way to feel if you are like others and prefer the most restriction for your money " so to speak" It might help you loose weight faster, it might not. Once again if you are not comfortable with being very restricted have the doc back off some. Sometimes even the tiniest .1cc can mean all the difference in the world. It just depends on how aggressive you want to be with your band and body. I prefer to be a smigeon on the looser side cuz I got a toddler and need a little extra energy to chase her around all day. At the end of the day it is your decision on how tight or loose you personally want to be.

Oh, also make sure to get in all your recommended Water because we LBer's tend to dehydrate faster than non LBer's and dehydration can cause the band to be more tight. I don't know why but in my own personal experience I know this to be true!

Cher, there are 2 types of tightness. Tightness to liquids and tightness to solids. If you are tight to liquids that is a very bad sign and you need an unfill. If you are tight to solids then move to a mushier diet to see if that works. Then if you are losing on a softer diet you need to make the decision on whether or not you want to stay there. If you really want to eat more solids it may take an unfill. Personally speaking, when I'm at 3.2 in my 4cc band I stay on a softer diet. I am going in after Xmas to go back to 3.2. I lost 6 lbs in 2 weeks there then came back down to 2.9. Hope this helps you.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
