Hi Everyone.

Hope your all safe and well?

Ok so here's my gastric story. I first had a gastric sleeve in late 2013. It was so successful my start weight was 128kg and I went done to 74kg. Amazing I know. I took my time with food ok I cheated a lot but back then I thought it was ok.

I gradually started to put on weight again in 2015 I think because I wasn't happy and lonely I turned to food as comfort.

I thought I was invisible and that the weight will drop off again, I was wrong!

With what started last year the terrible pandemic I stayed in and ate! and I went back up to 114kg!!!!! I felt so sick and angry with myself knowing that I did that to myself.

In September last year I started to get health problems and knew I had to seek help once again. And so I decided to get re-sleeved. All booked and prepared for December 2020.

All went well with my re-sleeve the surgeon couldn't believe how much I had stretched my stomach, that hurt when he said that.

So I'm nearly 5 months post-op and I just feel it's not the same, I'm slowly losing the weight and I can easily eat food not like before where I'd be scared to.

I feel I'm taking advantage of my tool and not treating it how I should.

Please help...

My first bit of advice would be to track your food intake for a while (if you are not already). It will help you stay conscious of what you’re eating and how much. You may be able to adjust your intake for gains and losses of you track.

Secondly is try to be patient. Sometimes secondary WLS doesn’t give immediate results. You may get to goal slower but you can still get there. You may need work for it a little more.

Finally, reflect or seek assistance to understand what occurred that led to your regain and if you can prevent it from happening again.

Good Luck!

Agreed. I think this one will not be a sprint, but more of a marathon. Just remember what your goal is and stay focused on achieving that goal. Go back to basics and start getting in the Water, tracking the food, starting to move more...it all adds up. Good luck!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
