High Abdobmen Fat

Recommended Posts

I have this high abdobmen fat between my belly and my chest. Most or many men have this when overweight. It seems like a fat retention pond. While I can already see my belly getting smaller this high adobmen fat seems like it has not gotten any smaller even though I have lost 35 pounds or about 12% of my high body weight. It doesn't want to leave me!!

people don't lose fat evenly - they'll notice less fat in some places long before they'll notice it in others. I'd give it more time..

I hate to say it, but my stomach was like the LAST place I started to lose weight. You don't lose weight evenly and can lose it in the strangest places. I literally lost my butt. No joke. I have absolutely no padding back there what-so-ever and sitting on anything not padded HURTS! Hell, even sitting on something padded sometimes hurts. I barely had a butt prior to surgery and what little I had just disappeared... pants don't fit quite the same when you have no butt to speak of. 😥

I've read somewhere that generally, the first place you gain weight, is the last place that you will lose it.

For me the first place to shrink during weight loss was my boobs, the last were my legs.

Hang in there ❤️

Yeah, I've lost 180 pounds and I still have a big belly. It's not just loose skin -- there's definitely still some fat in there that does not want to go away. I'm having a hard time figuring out the right size of clothing to buy because if I go by my actual waist measurement around the middle of my belly, everything is too big. And I don't leave the house without wearing a shaping cami.

Ugh, I hear that! Aside from my stomach being big all around, right under my left breast is like a pouch of fat that sticks out further than the part of my stomach under my right breast. Last time I lost 40lbs I felt like it was possibly shrinking but not too sure. I HATE THAT POUCH and worry that it won't go away once I have my surgery done. I feel like that area may eventually need Lipo.

I'm basing that off of a surgery I saw on TV. The person had some sort of fat pouch on their *ss (mush like my pouch) that they thought was a lipoma or something but ended up the fat just poofed out in that area and she was told it would never just go down/away no matter how much weight she lost or exercises she did so they ended up sucking out a great deal of it. Hope that doesn't need to happen but who knows.

Well I hven't even hit 1 month surgery date but everytime I look in the mirror I am still fat! :)

It will be several months before I get to where I can see I am losing weight. I have lost over 36 lbs and that was like taking a cup of Water out of the Gulf of Mexico. I cant tell I have lost a pound.

Big Sue I have only lost 36 lbs since starting pre op diet on 1/25. I cannot tell that I have lost a pound yet.

I think what I have is pretty common in fat men. I need to exercise more and hopefully in a few months it will shrink down. Never would have thought I would have comfortably gotten this fat!

I am not sure where 36 lbs was lost from since 1/25 but it sure does not ppear to be my abdobmen or legs.

My tummy was the last to go as well. It wasn't until I got within 20 pounds of goal that my stomach began to seriously shrink. It's like my body hung onto that weight to the bitter end, LOL. And even now, I have a lot of excess skin there. I'm planning a Tummy Tuck because the doctors tell me there's no losing that skin (and the small amount of fat attached) without surgery.

Yeah...I cant tell I have lost any weight from anywhere unless I get on the scales. I gues I will have to lose 70 lbs or more before I can tell.

Yeah I never thought I would need a Tummy Tuck but I am open to whatever I need to do to be looked at as normal again.

I guess you must need to lose a good bit before you can tell. Right now I cant tell I have lost anything.

You'll be Under Construction for a while my man :) My neck got 'normal' within a month, while I wasn't losing a lot of inches on my belly. Then it was legs time; all of sudden, my legs looked normal again. Then, it was belly time - and that's when people started going "omg you lost a bunch of weight, didn't you?". Then, my upper chest and face followed, and in the right clothes, I look almost normal-but-a-little-chunky now.

It's weird, but just hang in there. One day you'll wake up and feel your ribcage where your fat used to be.

Well I will look forward to that! I may have to adjust my goal weight at some point. The last time I weighed 210 (35 yrs ago) I was in really good shape. I m starting to believe that my goal may be south of 210.

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
