I had gastric bypass 16 years ago and the last few years I started to regain my weight back .

I am 5’9 with 275 pounds now🥲

Going for a revision on the 22 but I have no idea if I can do it again or if there is something else the doctor can to help me loose the weight again.

gastric by pass to another gastric bypass is possible? Anyone here did that?

Hi! I am in your same boat. My original bypass was 11 years ago, and I am having a revision on Tuesday. It is a much more risky surgery because less is known about modifying a previous bypass. My doc is making a smaller stomach pouch and POSSIBLY distallizing (moving the anastamosis between stomach and intestine) further down the line. He tells me that after this process I will likely lose 10-20% of the excess weight. We shall see! Surgery 11am Tuesday. I should add that I see a bariatric team and they are very particular about candidates for revision; I'm not sure I would trust a surgeon who is not specifically doing WLS to make a revision recommendation. The science/data is just not out there yet.

So! Good luck! See a doc who knows what they're doing! Let me know if you have questions - I'm happy to update along the way.

Hello Tina.

thank You for responding.

I want to wish you the best of luck on your upcoming surgery. It will be a success 🙏🙏🙏

I am not sure how good is the doctor that I am going to see . That is his name;

More about Dr. Jeffrey J Kraft

Dr. Kraft graduated from the Drexel University College of Medicine in 2011. He works in Paramus, NJ and 4 other locations and specializes in General Surgery. Dr. Kraft is affiliated with Hackensack University Medical Center, Palisades Medical Center and Hackensack UMC At Pascack Valley.

He has some good Reviews and some bad.

my first surgery was done in Brasil. It was great because I knew the doctor and his team besides he is friends with my cousin so I was so relax and confident. Mine food connections are in Brasil but because covid is sooooo bad there I won’t take any chance flying there or anywhere. I am super scared of getting covid. Let me know how everyone went and good Luck!♥️

      I feel like I've finally gotten past the biggest hurdle. Surgery date is September 6th, the day after Labor Day, and yesterday I got my insurance approval letter. I've followed everything they've told me to do, and I've even lost 30 lbs on my own since hubby had to change his diet for diabetes. No worries now about having to do 4 weeks of the liver shrinking diet instead of 2. On my initial visit, if I had gained just 5lbs I would have had to do 4 weeks. It's getting closer. Just 2 more months to wait.

        Although the prep work took energy, I found the biggest hurdle was post-operative. The first 48 hrs were extremely uncomfortable. I did an overnight and trying to down the liquids, Tylenol, and especially the barium was rough. Thankfully though, I got away with only having to have 1 belly injection after surgery. Needless are not my thing.

      I am looking for people to connect with that are 4-5 years out. Many of the support sights I go to are all newbies. And while I enjoyed that when i first had my surgery and found it useful, I am looking to exchange ideas with folks that are out a few years. I am slowly gaining weight back and losing my excitement. I don't want that!
