Ligamentum Teres Cardiopexy for GERD *after* the sleeve

Recommended Posts

I am so excited for you! What you’ve been through sounds horrible!!! So glad you’re on the mend. I think there are a lot of people who will want to hear how going off the PPI’s go. Please share with us! Many of us are on PPI’s - and they have their own host of problems long term. If this procedure allows people to get off the PPI’s - your surgeon will have patients lining around the block:)

I know this post is old but I'm scheduled to have this surgery July 5th! I'm beyond miserable and had the modified duodenal switch January of this year. The same surgeon who did my weightloss surgery is doing my upcoming surgery.

This is the first I have heard of this procedure. Please update and let us know how it works. Wishing you the Best of luck on your procedure and a speedy recovery.

Can you please reach out to me? I had the ligamentum teres wrap cardioplexy surgery July 5th and I can't get through the day without pain meds. I was told it's spasms from the wrap. I'm in extreme pain and they did the scan to see if anything was leaking or incisions had been damaged. I really need to speak to someone who has been through this surgery and can tell me what the recovery should be like. When I went to the ER, they had not seen anyone with this surgery! I'm at a loss. 479 276 4928.

Hello Alicia, I am so sorry you are in pain! Have you reached out to your surgical team? I did not have pain after mine just abdominal swelling and am doing really well and am 3 months post op. Mine was also way more invasive than just the wrap. I will say you have to be careful at first when you are chewing etc because yes when you are healing you swell inwards. And things may feel “stuck” on the wrap . I was on liquids for 3 weeks after. You are still fresh post op. Definitely give yourself some space and grace it does take time to heal . Usually most swelling is gone by 6 weeks. If you need to take your pain meds take them. I will say the spasm thing is normal and will go away in time

I had this surgery and more of my stomach taken out. I had Modified duodenal switch in January of this. I guess a part is my stomach was damaged. So, part of my new stomach was removed. I was told soft foods and yes still very painful. Perhaps liquid only would be better. I actually have reached out several times. My pain meds were changed and I was told the pain is due to spasms. Not much else has been said. I did go to the ER, but again no one had seen this surgery. I'm actually only the 4th person my surgical team has performed this surgery on. When I had asked about recovery I was told to take it very easy, which I have. I've been on leave since July 5th. Thank you so much for responding!!! I just don't know anyone who has had this surgery and it's been very difficult.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
