Strange feeling..... COLD

Recommended Posts

So, for the last few days I have been FREEZING. I have never been cold ever. I wear shorts all winter, never wear a jacket unless it gets below 20 degrees out. Now I find myself sitting on the couch, and instead of tshirt and shorts like usual, i'm wearing sweatpants and a sweatshirt, and i'm still cold! Is this normal? Does it ever go away? Does it get worse the more weight I lose? Just curious.

It's pretty common after weight loss surgery. I'm also much colder than I used to be, wearing heavier clothes and using more heat in the house. My feet are especially cold and I sleep with an extra blanket just over my feet only. I'm not sure if it will go away or not, time will tell I guess, LOL.

I've been freezing cold since my sleeve 14 days ago. I read in one of the comments that a NUT said 80% of sleeves experience coldness. I'm guessing it's a common side effect, but I do not believe it's related to Iron.< /p>

We were sleeved around the same time. I was the 29th of January.

It has been almost 2 years since my surgery and I am still cold quite often, but I've gotten used to it. In the summer, I'm the one wearing a light jacket or long sleeves at night (outside) while my friends are in tanks. Over time, I've found it's mostly my hands that stay cold -- and living in an old, 1800s-era house doesn't help. This winter, I bought arthritis gloves to wear while I'm working from home. They are nice fitting with the fingers cut out so that I can type and do most activities. They have really helped, and my husband says I look like a badass wearing them. I'll take it!

very common. I don't think it gets worse - and for some, it eventually gets better or even goes away. I was cold all the time the first year or so post-op, but not anymore. Granted, without all that "insulation", I'm not overheating all the time like I used to be, but I'm not freezing all the time anymore, either. I suppose this is what "normal" feels like!

My doctor told me that the "cold" is because of the rapid weight loss. Our layer of fat (insulation) just below the skin has disappeared due to weight loss, thus feeling cold. I live in Florida and even 70 degree days require a sweater when I go outside! Socks are a must. Gloves and a hat if its windy or below 60.

Crazy, but I love it! Sure beats being hot and fat!

I just bought two electric blankets in preparation for this. After a lifetime of running warm I am used to feeling toasty without much effort (hubby warms his always cold feet on my always hot feet) I find I don't have much tolerance for feeling cold and get pretty whiny if I can't easily warm up.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
