Wondering if anyone would like to share their journey getting pregnant within a few months post op from the VSG surgery? How did the weight loss work while growing a baby? Did you still notice your body changing? Did you lose weight after the baby was born? Thank you!

I got pregnant 5 months post op with my surprise 3rd. It is not something I would recommend as I constantly felt guilty that I wasn't able to eat or drink as much as I wanted to support the baby. At that point I still had a lot of restriction and the nausea was the worst compared to my prior 2 before WLS. My priority shifted from losing weight to sustaining the pregnancy, With that being said, I was so much more conscious of the food I did eat that I probably ate the most healthy and nutritious food to make every bite count. I was 262 before surgery and 175 when I got pregnant. I continued to loose weight and my lowest was 160 lbs at 6 months. I gained 8 lbs from there and was 168 lbs when I delivered my 5lb 15 oz baby girl at 37 weeks who was healthy. Two weeks after I gave birth I was 155 and have been about there ever since.

I just found out I am pregnant 4 month post op, I am freaking out 😑

It can be scary, but reach out to your OBGYN as well as your bariatric surgeon. Take a deep breathe and just take it day by day. Above is my experience and I was closely monitored. In the end I had a healthy baby girl. :)

i had the surgery November 29 2010 found out i was pregnant ( while on nuvaring) in june . I had lost a little over 50 lbs and was told that the amount of weight loss causes the estrogen from your fat cells to release this is why the birth control did not work. They did not tell me this before surgery. I actually had a great pregnancy this was my 3rd. i gained 25 lbs they monitored me closely and let some of the Fluid out of my band . i had more ultrasounds to make sure the baby was growing which was great to me since i could see her more. i craved fruit salad . i had a scheduled C-section due to my other 2 being a c-section. I made sure i took my Vitamins and tried to eat healthy . The end of pregnancy i had more acid reflux but that's pretty common. she came out a healthy 7 lbs 8 oz i breastfeed for 3 months and got back to prepregnancy weight loss at 6 months after. i think it was a little over a year after before i added a fill back to my band.

I too got pregnant 4 months post op, so nerve racking… everything seems to be normal so far, but I keep losing weight and am concerned my baby isn’t getting enough nutrients. Surely you’ve had the baby by now? How did everything go?

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
