I know green tea is promoted as an aide for weight loss but the reality has not been true for me. Believe me 17 odd years of drinking it did nothing for my weight. Lol! Maybe it does if you drink green tea instead of ice coffee or hot chocolate or carbonated drinks, etc.

I started drinking it for the anti oxidants & low caffeine.

I guess I left something out......it needs to be hot. He said ice tea loses some of the important properties needed. I started drinking 10oz a day plus at least one 16.9oz bottle of Water.

I only drink hot tea. No sweetness either. Sorry, but even the thought of iced tea makes me shudder.

I'm with Arabesque on this. I started drinking hot green tea for the anti-oxidants. I had given up caffeine long ago and wasn't interested in re-introducing it. I have been drinking it since about 2006 and often sip on green tea all day while I work. It had no significant effect on my weight loss alone.

No cafeine? Oh crap. I havent had surgery yet - hoping for Feb. (Ins requires 6 freaking months!!!) No one said I would have to give up caffeine. With my job, I have to get up early for international calls. I work with people in Bangalore and London. I'm in the US. I have to get up crazy early for calls and and be really functional in them. Right now, drink 2-3 mugs before lunch. Am I going to have to change jobs? I'm so screwed....

Mame, for me it’s only for the first month after surgery. Otherwise I can have it again. Ask your doctor to be sure.

I'm 5 weeks out of WLS now.

I crave Hot Drinks nowadays.

Don't want to drink milky drinks or tea with milk as it adds up to calories intake.

So my question is if I can drink green tea and how many cups a day?

I am an avid tea drinker -both hot and iced. However, since I am pre-op I am experimenting now on different liquids now so that I can make sure my house is stocked for after surgery.

Something that I have found that I enjoy hot/warm are as follows:

*Hot juices (apple and cranberry apple are my favorite). I am ordering the bariatric juices after my next pay date and will give those a try warmed up.

* vegetable and chicken broth- I do add some of the juice from minced garlic to amp of the flavors. Again - I will be trying the bariatric broths later.

*Simple hot Water. I have done taken my lemon and mint infused cold water and heated it up. It was better than I thought! I tried it because I didn't have enough left to make a glass - only a small coffee mug. So I thought what was the harm in heating it up to try.

This has been a great thread!! Lots of ideas that I have in my notes!

I’m a big tea drinker. The caffeine in green tea (in my opinion) is so low, I don’t even register it as caffeine. I drink warm tea whenever I want and no issues falling asleep at bedtime. It helps me when I think I want carbs at night too. Drinking warm tea cures that instantly. Enjoy!

I have anywhere from 4-5 (10oz-12oz cups) herbal teas a day and include it as Water intake alongside normal water consumption.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.
