inches instead of pounds?

Recommended Posts

Holy cats, has anyone measured themselves in inches instead of pounds? I am using the app Baritastic to log my food and for fun I took my measurements at right before surgery and then at the two week post op and now today. If anyone gets caught up in the scale I would highly suggest keeping track of measurements. The scale has slowed down a tad this last week, its still trending down ward but not as swiftly as the last few weeks but the I have lost 18 inches in two weeks!

I thought that must be an error so I tried on some clothes because clothes don't lie right?? I mean the last two weeks have been stretch pants, sweat pants and PJs most of the time and you really do not notice much in them so I got out some blue jeans and tops and I can say that the measuring tape does not lie either!!

I never tied actual numerical measurements to my measurements.. BUT... the day before my surgery I pulled out some string and wrapped it around my belly, hips, thigh, arm, etc. and cut them exactly to the size.. I attached masking tape to each piece to label what was what measurement and keep them all in my backpack. I pull them out every now & then and can re-wrap around each place and see the MAJOR difference in size. Though I've never actually measured, I still can compare so easily.

Its out right shocking. I actually used an old string out of a pair of sweat pants and then measured it against a tape measure when doing the measurements and logged them into the app but I was shocked. It gives you a reason to push away from the table and do something when everyone else is enjoying their dinners and such. With the holidays and all the big food events coming up I was starting to have a little pity party about not being able to join everyone with all the goodies but this made me realize that its is worth it and it paying off big time. Summer will be here and I will be at my goal weight and be able to wear those cute summer outfits without trying to hide behind big baggy t-shirts and such. @FindYourFire it will all be worth it in the end!!!

I never measured myself but use to laugh when i put on a pair of shorts and if i could shake them off would crack myself up. I had a huge leaf garbage can in my closet, Every time something would fall off or look like a tent it went into that can. Bag upon bag was filled as i laughed and flipped the Fatty clothes into it. To this day the last can is still sitting in there and cracks me up just looking at it. Now i do still have one pair of 50 shorts and One 4xl shirt hanging to remind me how close I came to killing myself. So since I have a suit receipt from Pre Op i just measured myself. WOW is the understatement. Thanks for the great idea made my day

So true, we need these Non-Scale Victories (NSV) and ways to measure our progress other than the scale.

I took my measurements every Wednesday during weight loss phase since starting the 2 week pre-op diet, without fail. I actually looked forward to it, LOL (I have since stopped the weekly measures and only measure probably once a month, if I remember to...just to do a spot check)

I kept track of chest, waist, hips, Right Thigh, Right Calf & Right upper arm.

I wish I had kept track of neck and wrist as well, though....

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
