OJ is a no go!

Recommended Posts

Holy Moly

my husband and I are traveling this week and I brought most of my own food. I needed to take my meds this morning and grabbed his orange juice to take them with......

I am pretty sure that is what HELL feels like!! Within minutes I was gagging and throwing up (sorry for the graphics here) and I felt like I drank 10 too many screwdrivers!!!!!

when I got in control of my gagging I made a cup of the good old chicken Bone Broth and sipped it slowly and in about 30 minutes I was good to go.

moral of this story: Betty can’t drink OJ!

I swear that was like gunpowder and Syrup of ipecac mixed!!!! Uffda. I certainly hope I don’t try something new without thinking in public because it was fierce. Who knew two little drinks of something could cause such an issue!!!

I remember OJ being high in sugar from my pregnancy days. I would drink it before an ultrasound to get the baby hopped up and active! LOL!!

I really didn’t think of much but I needed a couple drinks if something wet to get my meds down! I don’t know if it was the sugar or the acid or both but I will NOT be doing that again! Lol

I dont react to OJ but the gagging and feeling like youve swallowed something terrible is relatable. I had that recently happen with a takeaway. I am glad you controlled it so quickly, mine went for hours. I am worried it might happen again like at work or something...

I have found when I get that gagging sensation if I drink something warm and salty like the Bone Broth it goes away pretty quickly. I have tried hot tea and warm Jello but that doesn’t soothe it as quickly for me. I carry a little zip lock baggie with instant bone broth packs in it for emergencies!!

Oh you poor thing. Something similar happened to me at a restaurant. I was making all these terribly loud retching, gagging & belching type noises in the bathroom for several minutes & then had to walk out in front of everyone. Embarrassing!

You’ll find that your tummy is extra sensitive to foods you used to eat pre surgery for the first few months. Sometimes even food you’ve been successfully eating for weeks post surgery suddenly make you unwell. I described my tummy as being a petulant 2 yr old during that time - you’d never know when it might have a tantrum. But you may find there are some foods you’ll always struggle with.

Good luck on your journey.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
