Lap band United Healthcare -sleeve BCBS

Recommended Posts

Today I had my first session for 6 month documentation for sleeve. The doctor office was unclear really how blue cross would treat the process. My lap and was done under my old insurance but the sleeve would be under blue cross. They have a one lifetime approval. I talked to them they stated it should be approved. I hope so as I press on.

I have BCBSMS. I would think that they would cover the sleeve since they would only be approving that 1. They also have a 90-day bariatric program. 4 meetings with the nutritionist and 4 with the surgeon. I just signed my final clearance papers with the surgeon yesterday and am just waiting to hear from their office on a date. Good luck to you.

I have Horizon BCBS and I have one more nutritional class on Monday then hopefully they’ll submit all of my documentation to my insurance provided abs everything goes through. I think this whole process is more stressful than the surgery!

Hi did you ever get your date and how long did it take after you signed your surgical consents?

Thanks so much for your responses. I’m scheduled to have the lapband removed January 11th. So glad hopefully it will stop complications I had with it. I’m going through the process have met with the nutritionist twice and have 1 with surgeon. He did tell me he would wait 2 months after the removal before doing the other surgery. Looks like I won’t have mine until June.

Have a great Wednesday too! Sorry you're hungry all the time, I'm pretty much the same..and I'm sick of eating the same food all the time.

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!

Having gall bladder surgery in a few days and I so hope the recovery is easier than the one from the modified DS! I could use a bit of luck/pep talk for a change. I'm starting to be able to walk around without experiencing dizziness, but it would be great if the random pain in my chest and abdomen would go away!!
