I had the sleeve in 2013. I lost a lot of weight. I have regained more then I would like but I’m still happy with the sleeve and no where near the size I was. I have had issues with GETD, vomiting and horrible heartburn at night. Finally got a doctor to listen to me and referral me to a surgeon who immediately knew I needed surgery to fix the problem. So know I’m scheduled for the bypass 11/23. My pain goal is relief from the GERD, vomiting and heartburn. However, I’m wondering how much weight will I lose, how fast will it come off? What are some tips for the second time around. i

Hello! I was sleeved in 2012 and lost 105! My acid reflux started getting worse. Especially at night too woke up w sore throat from the acid and tried diff medications. I got the bypass for acid reflux AND weight loss. More the acid I just want it gone. I’m 1.5 weeks post op. Had my bypass 11/2. I’ve lost 10 pounds so far in the week I’ve been home lol I’m feeling great. I will say the pain for this revision was horrible. My friend had bypass and didn’t have this much pain. Today I’m able to get around a lot and even house clean. I’m on protonix for 3 months but I was thinking I would not need it hmmm not sure but I do feel acid if I have Gatorade zero. Hopefullly it’s just because it’s so soon after surgery. But you will lose. Well I think so, I am. SW230, 2 week 1,000 cal diet low carb=216, after surgery 216. 10 days later I’m at 206. Goal 170. :) good luck!

I hear the pain is so much worse then the sleeve or if you had the bypass originally. Sounds like your doing great!! I have been on Protonix twice for months now plus Carafate four times a day. I’m excited for the weight loss don’t get me wrong I just keep reading that it is slow and some don’t lose so I was hoping to get tips on how to make sure I do lose. Hope you keep doing well.

I had my sleeve done September 2016. I lost 145lbs. I now weigh 165lbs & my acid reflux has not gotten any better. I know I need a revision but I’m scared & my doctor moved away😭

I am so sorry to hear about your ongoing discomfort and discontent. You have been referred to another Surgeon? That is a priority so you can now address & reconcile the acid reflux and move on with your revision. Typically, a revision is not as complicated as the original surgery. It should alleviate your acid reflux and improve weightloss. Sometimes the stomach can expand...I realize you know all this. Your trepidation is reasonable & understandable, especially when the Dr. you developed a trusting relationship has moved. Have you met the new Surgeon? Do not allow fear to create anxiety. Evidentially, you are incredibly strong, in every way....emotionally & mentally your are formidable. Has your Dr recommended any medication for the reflux? I do not know anything about your history, I joined today. But I am here, happy to help & always listen...

Thank you Grace🙏
My surgery was actually 2014. It’s been so long that I forgot 😛

I recently had an arm lift, Tummy Tuck & breast lift. Which is another reason I don’t want to do it. I take omeprazole daily. I have not met with another surgeon. I’m sure it’s inevitable though😭

Depends on insurance. Usually for a revision you have to have some type of complication w the original wls

Nope for my insurance I had to have 2 visits and BMI 30 or GERD. Then one visit w psych. That’s it.

Hi there - I had the same issue and am just coming off the revision from sleeve (11/2017), which we did due to the fact that I had terrible GERD. I had my surgery on 1/12/2021, and I’m struggling with nausea. My physician says I have to figure out my new anatomy and not drink too fast, but I’m so crazy thirsty its so hard not to constantly obsess about my next sip of Water. I pray every day that my swelling goes down and my body will allow me to intake these fluids, however it’s been rough. I’m interested to watch your journey, as it seems similar to mine.

I had the revision on 1/11. I have not lost any weight but I have no heartburn or puking. I was more sore then anything. I can drink normal, in fact I feel like I could eat or drink whatever. I haven’t but I can take drinks of Water without any issues and water was a huge problem for me.

I'm in the same situation with sleeve in 2013 and now surgeon is suggesting a revision to bypass or LINX to help with the severe GERD. However, they strongly recommend bypass so I'm here to do all the research I can on the experience others have had with similar situations. Would love to have the GERD gone and weight loss would be nice but terrified that bypass will actually be way more painful than I am expecting and have worse side effects like weight gain and dumping and maybe I should just deal with the GERD. Feeling really confused and hoping this forum helps me come to terms with a decision.

Well as of now I’m only 12 days out and so far it’s been one of the best decisions I have made! I have not had any heartburn or puking after meals. My pain as been very minimal. The only disappointment I have had is I have not lost any weight but I’m sure once I have healed from the surgery and exercise I will lose. Since I was puking after ever meal or after anything I took in before the surgery my calorie intake was low and now that I’m actually keeping my Protein Shakes down my calorie intake is higher.

Thank you for the info! I'm going to keep an eye out for your updates as i get closer to my decision date.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
