I cried at 22

Recommended Posts

I went shopping for jeans yesterday with a friend who has threatened to steal my current jeans (24s) because they have become too baggy. Well with much reservation I tried on a 22. At first I held them up and went "There is NO WAY these are getting past my thighs let alone my hips" and from the other side of the dressing room door my friend said "Shut up and put them on" (don't you just love the drill sargent!! tee hee) so I did...got them past the thighs...OMG they went past my hips...now for the next test...can I get them buttoned...OMG they not only buttoned but they zipped. Then I thought hang on can I sit and still breath??? OMG OMG OMG I CAN I CAN:whoo::whoo::whoo: I ran out of the dressing room and cried as I hugged my friend.

I don't remember the last time I could get a 22 on my rump but they fit so I bought 2 pairs because I don't plan on staying at that size for long!!!

If you had asked me the day before my surgery if in a little over 4 months I would go from a 30 to a 22 I would have laughed at you but here I am!!!!:bounce::whoo::clap2:

Getting into those jeans has made up for the scale not moving very quickly!!

This band-thing ROCKS!!!

Congrats! What a great NSV!

I remember after my best friend had Gastric Bypass surgery when she was down quite a bit of weight and we were out to get her some new clothes (she had some "hand-me-down's" from a cousin who had gastric a while before her that she was using in the interim) and this was one of our first shopping trips. As we were in the various stores she'd find something she liked and grab a size then I would take it away from her and replace it with the same thing but at least 2 sizes smaller. She was ADAMENT that they would NOT fit. And along the way to the change room I would pick up the occasional thing and she would tell me "it's not gonna fit!" - I would tell her - "shut up and try the damn clothes on".... Low and behold they fit and of course they looked great. She couldn't believe it. It took her a couple of years to be able to look at an item of clothing and know it would fit without thinking it was too small, she still occasionally has the odd moment where she relapses back.

Grats to you, I can't wait until I have my first NSV like that :(

That is such a fabulous NSV. I started at a size 24 close to 26 and now I'm in a size 18. I haven't cried YET. Maybe when I hit 16 I will! Keep up the good work. The pounds will melt off. Good luck!

Gwhite:

Congratulations! I started at 26/28 and I can wear 20's now. It's so exciting isn't it?

I have a Salvation Army store in my town. I started shopping there because for $5 you can get a pair of pants like khaki's or jeans. I figure I'm only gonna wear them for a month or two and then I'll donate them back. My Salvation Army store has a nice Plus Size section. I donated alot of clothes already, and I chuckle when I'm looking through the racks for 20's and 18's and I find my old 22's, 24's, and 26/28's.

Maybe you have a good used clothing store near you to try?

Continued good weight losses to you.

Sue

And it keeps going. The other day I put on a (gulp) skirt size 12. Yes. I said Size 12. WHAT!?!?!?!? And it fit. I didn't buy it cuz I didn't like it, but it fit perfectly. Damn....size 12. Is this me?

I ran out of the store and told my bf who hugged me tight. He's great support.

I agree with Jack, when you are in the "transition" period, you may not want to buy a ton of clothes. I gave away a lot of stuff with tags still on since I was losing so fast.

Yay!!!!! NSV happiness!!

I'm a 16, with some 14s, from a 24/22. I haven't cried yet, but I probably will when I get to a 12 or a 10... whew...

Congratulations!!! It only gets better :)

I agree with Jack - I bought 6 pairs of capris in a size 14 this summer for my cruise. By the time the cruise came around, they were all too big!

I've started shopping EBAY, and thrift stores to hold me over on clothes until I reach my goal weight. Every pound I lose now makes a big difference in my clothes.

I recently bought a cute top and pair of pants in a size 10 off ebay for 99 cents each. Shipping was 5.50 so I spent a total of $7.48 for an entire outfit, and the shirt still had the tags on it! I'm addicted to Ebay now.

I can't wait to move down to my ultimate goal of a size 8!

PS - I will cry too when I get to an 8!

I did shed a tear when I got into the 180's because I had tried for years and never could get out of the 190's.

The Band gives us lots of emotional ups & downs!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
