I never had any nausea or vomiting as a result of the VSG; other causes on occasion, as happens in normal life, sure, but not from the surgery. I never even used the anti nausea meds that they prescribed post op. As with most things, it is one of those YMMV things, and some will have more problems than others, but it is nothing inherent in the procedure.

I only vomited once...due to eating eggs at about two weeks out. I was able to eat eggs at 6 weeks out with no issue, but that was the ONLY time I threw up.

3 weeks postop and haven't vomited at all, one episode of nausea yesterday with trying something too soon possibly.

I HATE puking. I dread it so much that If I had morning sickness during pregnancy I would have never gotten pregnant again after my first child. That being said I have gotten sick maybe 4-5 times in almost 2 years. The first 2 times was early on and was a learning curve into what eating too fast or too much the other 2 I think I didn't chew enough or it was random. I felt nauseated but it wasn't puking like before surgery. TMI Some people describe it as foam but I had excessive drool/spit about 30-60 minutes after eating too much/too quickly and had this excess salvia that I spit out multiple times over a half hour and then a few bigger spit ups of food and salvia almost like a infant and I felt better almost instantly.

I did occasionally the first few weeks out, when something didn't agree with me, but I don't vomit any more now than I did before I had surgery.

also, vomiting is not as bad post-surgery as it is pre-surgery. For one thing, you have a really small stomach, so there's not much in there to vomit. Secondly, you don't have a lot of acid in your stomach, either, so you don't get that awful taste in your mouth. It tastes the same coming up as it did going down.

I wouldn't go so far as to say that I don't mind it - but on the other hand, I don't dread it as much as I did before I had surgery.

Haven't puked once in six months since surgery. Your new stomach will tell you what it likes and what not with plenty of notice, if you pay attention to it.

My first time vomiting was last night.. I am 3 weeks out, and tried something to soon, needless to say the one bite turned into a vomiting episode that was not pleasant. Otherwise I haven't had any other episodes since day after surgery.

I hate vomiting. I'm a crier. In the last 4 months post op I've vomited twice. Both times were self induced to get the gross feeling to go away. The first time was 3 weeks out I had eaten too much. I tried to walk it off to help it digest and it didn't work so I forcibly purged. Last weekend I tried peanut m&ms. That didn't go so well either. Self induced because I got nauseous. Other than that no vomiting at all. I just moved too far too fast or ate things I shouldn't have. Just follow the rules and you'll be fine.

I puked for 24 hours following surgery but have never puked again in the two years since WLS. It's just the nausea from the anesthesia.
