2 week stall... HELP

Recommended Posts

Im 12 days post op rny and I have not lost any weight for 5 days... im hiting my Protein and Water goal and I exercise (focused) for at least 30 min a day (the last 2 days I've been doing an hour) the only thing that comes to mind that could be why im stuck already is that my period is about to come in and ive always gained before it starts. Anyone gone thru something similar♡♡

It’s super common for people to stall around 3 weeks post op. Your body is getting used to it’s new normal. It will start moving again soon.

I know it is. It can be so defeating mentally. Just know that the scale will start moving again. Some things that have helped me move past a stall is- changing up exercise or walking more, alternating my calories on different days (some days it’s 600 and others up to 1000), working on stress management, and getting more sleep. I work nights so the days I work I’m sleeping 5-6 hours so on my days off I catch up on sleep.

Yep, this is very common in the first couple of weeks. Unfortunately, it won’t be the only one you have. They usually can last anywhere from 1 to 3 weeks but we’re all different.

As starwarsandcupcakes said it’s like your body playing catch up. I liked to say my body was taking a breath to come to terms with all the changes: the surgery, reduced caloric intake, changes to activity, changes to the foods you’re eating, etc.

It will pass. Some people recommend temporarily increasing or decreasing your activity or calories but I never did & the weight would start to drop again.

Good luck on your journey.

dont stress -- it's seriously frustrating, but it'll pass. I hit mine the first few weeks and i started to panic.. however, your body will start to lose weight. the first few weeks are a lot of Water weight from surgery and such.. just keep doing what you're doing and you'll see some results. :)

girl, you'll have stalls every so often -- they're normal. its like your body is taking a quick break from losing so much. i stay on one weight for a weekish, and then i drop 4-5 the next.. i feel like women's bodies are so much less straightforward than men's.. just stay on routine.. it'll be the best thing.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
