Hello! June 12th made two years post-op gastric sleeve for me. I've been doing well, a few road blocks here and there but nothing I couldn't over come. In May I tried to do a ten day pouch reset but I only made it to day six before I got sick and had to stop. Nausea, fatigue, etc. I thought it was because I wasn't eating as much as I usually do, just liquids and such, because I would feel better after I ate something. But then in July, it hit me again. Nausea, fatigue, headache, dizzy, brain fog, LOA, etc. It lingered for a little over a month and a half and then just went away. The doc said it was my thyroid because all of my blood draws came back good, tests were normal, etc. Now it's back and it's worse than ever. I've heard of leaks happening years after but im just not sure what I'm supposed to be looking for. Does anyone know? And test I can do or specific stuff I can look out for to try and figure it out? Please help??

Welcome to the forums.

Sorry your having issues. My uninformed impulse is to say it's not the sleeve. Even leaks or worse would not do what is happening to you.

I suggest continuing to find a medical cause. Doc's still have an issue believing these types of symptoms from women so if your current doc has given up looking, find another. Get referrals to specialists. There are a TON of things that have the symptoms you describe.

Try to get them to do all the tests now while you are having active symptoms.

Good luck,

Tek

Hi Dannies you should contact the surgeon who did your surgery if you havent already and let them know your symptoms. They will be able to suggest the next steps for you

The Greater Fool,

I would tend to agree with you, but I'm not sure what else it could be. The doctors have tested everything else and this is all that's left. A specialist would be a good idea though, I think I will do that. Thank you so much!

MsMocie,

I did the pouch reset because I had fallen off the wagon and I was feeling bad overall. I had fallen into old habits and eating unhealthy food and a friend had told me that a pouch reset could get me back to where I need to be. I'm still not sure if I just didn't do it right or it didn't work.

I'm 24 y/o, so I don't know about menopause, but my cycle has been almost clockwork-like, which is weird for me, I'm usually very irregular. I didn't consider that maybe my hormones had something to do with it.

Oh my, quite the list, lol. I have considered going to Neuro and ENT, simply because the headaches are worrisome and my thyroid problems are recent and I don't know too terribly much about it. When I find something new I usually research it until I could be considered an expert myself, but I find that I just don't have the energy that I used to. Cardio and a full blood workup and everything else is definatly going to be added to the list as well, those are very good ideas. Thank you so much!

Tarotcardreader,

First, I love the username! Lol. I often consult my own tarot deck, sometimes it gives me the positive reinforcement I need to continue on my chosen path. I love it.

Unfortunately, my surgeon retired a little over 6 months after he performed my surgery so I'm at a bit of a loss as to where I can turn to find answers. My PCP doesn't know enough about it to really point me in the right direction so I'm not sure if it's ok for me to call up a bariatric surgeon near me and ask questions? Thank you so much!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
