November 2020 sleevers

Recommended Posts

I start my 2 week pre-op diet on the 20th. It is all liquids and two Snacks (an egg or yogurt). My birthday is on the 25th. This year will be booze and cake free. I am celebrating a new me! I can't wait until Nov 3. That is the first day of my new life.
Happy early birthday! Mine is shortly after yours, and my surgery is the 2nd of November. Great birthday presents, huh?

Any fellow Nov sleevers care to share their pre-op diet? My surgeon just told me to lose 10 lbs before surgery, however in the paperwork it says 10-14 days clear liquid diet with foods, drinks and sample menus. I’ve got an upcoming appointment with the dietician where I’m sure I’ll get clarity. I was just wondering what everyone else was doing, or if you even knew.
I don't start mine until the 23rd, and the dietician told me to not start earlier (noooo problem! LOL) The paperwork is in the other room, but from what I remember, it's low carb, low calorie. Some foods, but not much. I'm glad it isn't liquids only, like a lot of folks'. I dunno how you all survive on that (afterward, sure... Before? )

I’m scheduled for Nov 6!! So excited and a little nervous 😬 I’m going to Mexico. What are you all doing to get ready now?

I switched to Decaf, I’m consciously trying to chew things thoroughly (not as easy as it seems), and I have increased my walking distance and times. I had over 11,000 steps Saturday, but then felt I needed a day of rest Today I did just under 6000 steps in an hour walk, and will probably go out again later, or maybe ride my bike to get some more activity. I don’t get my pre-op diet until next week.

I've been trying to cut out all caffeine, which has been a struggle. I'm trying to get motivated to walk more and exercise. I've also started incorporating shakes at least one meal a day and drinking more Water. I've noticed it the last week I'm beginning to mourn the things I won't be able to eat!! That hasn't been fun.

I hear ya! I am a serious Diet Coke addict. I’m trying to slow down now before I have to go cold turkey!

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
