Anyone for October 2020?

Recommended Posts

I am 16 days and 14 lbs too!

I started at 233. I think we are in the middle as far as weight loss goes. I've seen people lose more and less. I am happy with the 14 lbs as long as it continues! When you think about it, its almost 1 lbs a day, kinda crazy.

Two days post op and I'm back home now. Managing pain Ok. The worst pain I had was from the hiatal hernia repair that was done at the same time as the VSG. Wow ouch. It's still hard to take a deep breath. Now I'm just working on getting in enough Clear Liquids to stay hydrated, getting up to walk around, and trying to get some sleep. I can't seem to get comfortable in bed! Hope all the October folks are doing well!

Omg yes!!!! Still it feel different and hurts sometimes I have to keep remember I can’t drink or eat anything unless I am fully upright. Hopefully it will start to subside mine did about 6 days post op.

Just had mine on Oct 26th!! 5 days post-op, I have been doing well on liquids, but I am lactose intolerant prior to surgery so shakes are next to impossible.. I've tried to force it and end up nauseated or a quick trip to the restroom.. I have ordered some Protein Soups and Gelatin from this website that will be here next week, hopefully can just suffer through until then!

I had mine on the 26th! Pretty good with pain - but shakes and liquids take forever to get down. I manage like 1 shake a day.

It does get easier to get them down as the days go on.....x

Hey everyone today is the last day of October I hope everyone is doing well! I had my sleeve done 10/13 . My beginning weight was 251, surgery weight 242, and current weight is 226

i move to soft foods in 2 days! Can’t wait to have ricotta bake, shredded chicken, and tuna salad :)

I also had a fuckboyectomy. I lost an additional 230 lbs of dead weight who wasn’t supportive *kanye shrug*

I had my 10/26 too. How's it going for you? So far I've completely dodged the gas pains.

I had the horrible gas pains and for the first 2 days post OP I was EXTREMELY nauseous and vomited pretty much all the time.. It was miserable! BUT! I have been on full liquid diet for 2 days, it's going good, but I do have a really hard time with Protein Shakes. I was lactose intolerant prior to surgery, so it's been near impossible to drink them and I've tried several. So right now I'm just trying to stay hydrated and eat what I can, and struggle through until I can start eating protein! So I have lost 5.7KG since Monday!

Good morning m, got a question. For those in the purée face. Is anyone else not going to the bathroom with #2. It’s day 2 for me. I’m not feeling bad or any pain I just need things moving. Has anyone added any tea or something else?

I’ve had some movement but it’s not routine. I’ve been drinking coffee even on the liquid phase. Have you tried some fruit purées? That might help.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
