I’m scheduled for an EGD on Friday, and I think that is the last clearance I need. How soon after your EGD was surgery scheduled?

Hi catty it depends because your egd may come up abnormal and they need to do another study like a gastric emptying study. Plus you have to wait atleast a week to get the hplori pathology report for the surgeon. You can make things go quicker by picking up that pathology report yourself and hand giving it to the surgeon place.

Thanks for answering! I’m just getting impatient, I think. I was hoping to have had surgery by now but COVID put a halt on so many things and I’m worried about elective surgeries being stopped again. As far as the tests, they should get it back pretty quick. My bariatric surgeon is the one who is doing the EGD, so the results will go directly to him. The surgical center is part of the hospital network where I am having all of my tests done, so the transfer of information has been pretty smooth and efficient thus far.

I did my EGD on Monday, then had my surgery on Thursday... However, it was scheduled like that.

I had EGD on Monday, the final appointment w/surgeon prior to surgery on Tuesday (to discuss EGD results + get my co-pay)...

On Tuesday - they said I needed ANOTHER EKG & stress test... so they scheduled it for Wednesday... then I was cleared Wednesday afternoon by Cardiologist...and had my sleeve done on Thursday (had to be there at 5:30am)!!!

Such a crazy week.

The surgeon still has to wait for the pathology report which processing times vary. Its for the hplori and anyother sites they biopsy. I was given a surgery date after it Was processed though which was scheduled about two weeks later. Each step is a step closer ? hang in there!
