Thank you! Prayers worked. Surgery was a success on the 8th! The last couple days have been a struggle. The epidural was awful and because of it my bladder shut down and I couldn’t pee... so I had to stay in the hospital.
Haven’t been able to sleep. My stomach seems to gurgle and spasm a lot. I think I am having head hunger.

I really wish I could sleep more. But I know walking around is better for me.

Hi! I had mine done on the 8th as well. It was a smooth successful surgery. Getting the epidural was complete torture... it was awful and had an awful affect on my bladder. I had to stay in the hospital longer because I couldn’t pee. I am feeling ok now. Nothing goes down that smoothly. I swear I feel Jello moving thru every small inch of my stomach. Lots of gurgling and spasms, and I can’t sleep either. This will be a long few weeks ahead.

How are you feeling???

Hi! I’m new to this group/app but I had my sleeve done on September 8th too! Would love to connect with you! How are you feeling? I’ve had a lot of pain when getting up/down and it’s mostly in my right lower and middle of my belly. I tried the recliner one night but it wasn’t working for me so I’ve moved into my bed. Hope you’re doing well!!! Jen

I’m doing okay but getting Water down is just awful. broth too. Thank goodness for sugar free popsicles & Jello & Protein water the nutritionist brought me in hospital. But I need to seriously work on getting plain water in. It’s strange, at times I can eat a whole popsicle but to take one tiny sip of water is awful. I hope you are doing well. What was epidural for? That wasn’t mentioned to me. I do worry that it’s been a long time since I’ve done anything except pee so I hope I don’t get blocked up because I’m even taking a stool softener from Surgeon every day but nothing. I know every day will get better and am thankful they all said my surgery went very well. Prayers going up to you Shoegirl6 and everyone else on this journey.

Hi there! How are you doing? Thank you for sending up prayer for me! I send the same for you. I have really tried to stay off my laptop so I don't work. I have been trying to rest and heal. Can you get more water down? I find that crystal light type mixes goes down easier than plain water and drinking from a glass, not a plastic bottle is easier. I am doing fine with drinking and full liquids... but boy does my stomach gurgle. It makes so many noises to digest.

Yeah, the epidural is supposed to help you get up and walking faster. But they were terrible at it... pure torture.

I am healing ok... my staples are out and I think they look horrible. So I will try to minimize the scarring. I walk about 45 minutes every day outside and so far things are going good. It's hard to get 4 bottles of water and 2 Protein Shakes down though... I am full.

take care!

Hi there! How are you doing? I was sleeved on the 8th as well, nice to meet you. Sorry I have been offline and off my laptop... just trying to focus on healing, Protein, and walking. I am doing well. I had a torturous epidural, but I didn't have pain from the surgery. I had pain at the incisions and staples, thank goodness those are out, but they look awful.

I am walking every day, and trying to get the 4 bottles of Water and 2 Protein Shakes down. I am full. My stomach gurgles if I eat cream Soup or cottage cheese.

I have slept in my bed... it's hard to sleep on my back, but the recliner did not feel good to my either. I am a stomach sleeper so this is hard.

Be well!

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.
