Oh wow, that's awesome! I get to have 1 piece of fruit and a small dinner along with 3 Protein Shakes. I thought mine was generous! I'm starting my pre-op diet today too. Good luck to us!!! ☺️

you're really lucky. I had two weeks of just clear, zero- or ultra-low calorie liquids and 4-5 Protein Shakes a day. I could also have a cup of broth and a cup of V8 or Tomato juice.

I did lose 28 pounds though.:91_thumbsup:

I’m on a 3 week pre-op diet and can only have fruits, vegetables, broth, sugar free jello/pudding and a Protein Shake with every meal. However, I don’t like vegetables so this has been interesting so far. Week one is done and let me tell you, it’s been hard.

Yeah this is exactly what I did and I was never hungry and lost 20 pounds during my preop. Some people I talk to had to do all liquids but im so grateful I didn't have to. I tried to get creative with recipes, used onions and green peppers in everything lol

Started mine yesterday and it is only full liquids. 65 grams of Protein a day. Protein Shake in the am, soup/broth for lunch and protein shake for dinner. Can also have sugar free Jello and low fat yogurts. This has been a trying couple of days

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
