Recommended Posts

I just had my preoperative appointment and got the nitty gritty on my Surgery and what to expect, now I'm getting a little nervous. My surgeon said I will have a drain tube. anyone eles been thru this and can give me words of encouragement.

NOW let's be clear I am not chickening out I am just ready to get it done so I can finally be on the other side of this waiting game. SEPT 4TH 2020...

I didn’t have a drain tube but I did have surgery last week. It’s normally to be nervous but it will be worth it in the end. You got this.

I didn't have a drain for my WLS, but I did for my plastics. It wasn't that bad. You can definitely deal with it!

The same thing happened to me but she said it is most of the time removed before leaving hospital. Mine is supposed to be aug 28

it's normal to be nervous before a surgery. I've had several at this point and I still feel nervous before them.

I didn't have a drain tube, either. I know some people do with WLS, but most don't. I DID have them with plastics.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
