It's been forever since I've posted...

I'm 14 months post op. I reached my goal in March. It's been a journey of ups and downs, but not one that I regret. Well, actually, my only regret is not doing it sooner!! I have the support of my family and partner.

My biggest struggle now is body image. After 47 years of being considered obese, it's not easy to think and see yourself differently. There are days that I can actually see myself as the new woman I am. Most days, I do not. When I see my reflection, I see the new me. However, as the scale shifts upward, even just a few pounds, 8 feel like I haven't lost an ounce and am the obese person I always was. I know deep down that isn't true. The funny thing about it, when I was loosing and hit that weight, I felt sexy and invigorated. Now, as I said, I feel and look fat. And I'm talking a gain of 10 lb or less. I FEEL & LOOK FAT to myself.

We were on vacation last week and I needed a swimsuit. Not really living anywhere near stores to shop for a new one, I decided to get one at the beach. My fiance picked it out for me. I wanted a high waisted suit, he said if I was going to do that, I may as well get a 1 piece suit. I relented and he picked it out for me. Boy oh boy did I ever feel uncomfortable, but I wore it with all that virgin skin exposed!!!

Thank you! Aside from my appearance and ability to fit into anything any store has, my confidence has increased tremendously!! I'm no long afraid to try and do new things. Before I was afraid my weight would hold me back, that I wouldn't fit or just plain was too heavy. For example wearing that bikini at the beach, granted, I was very uncomfortable, but I did it and eventually relaxed a bit. Even if someone didn't think I should be wearing it, I didn't have to hear their comments. I'm getting more comfortable in my own skin, despite the head problems and still feeling fat for gaining a few pounds.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
