plans can be pretty different depending on your surgeon. Most seem to require at least 60 grams of Protein per day. Many are also ultra-low carb, but not all. My plan was pretty balanced. Some are told to focus on getting their protein in first, then non-starchy vegetables - and then the more balanced plans allow a small serving of a "good" carb like fruit or something whole grain if you have room after you've eaten your protein and vegetables.

although few plans dictate how many calories you can eat (and it's hard to get many in the first few weeks ANYWAY), a lot of people seem to eat in the 600-900-ish range for the first several months (i.e., once they can start eating solid foods again - the first month or so you're largely on liquids, and then purees)

sorry this is kind of a vague answer, but plans can really vary.

They do vary a lot by surgeon, but they don't seem to change much between a sleeve or a bypass.

My surgeon's plan was very restrictive at the beginning - no fluids by mouth except ice chips until they did a leak check about 38 hours after surgery. Then I was on clear fluids for a week, and full fluids for another week. In contrast, other people say they were offered fluids right after surgery, were on full fluids when released, and moved to purees after only a week.

On the other hand, my surgeon's plan had me on normal food after a month with no long term restrictions other than carbonated soda (which they ban forever). Other plans may take 2-3 months to get you to mostly normal food, and tell you to wait even longer for certain things, like 3-6 months for raw veggies or 1 year for caffeine.

Here's a representative diet plan with a really detailed list of foods for each stage.

It has hit me today, as I sit in my chair at work that I don't have my belly sticking out to where it would hit the desk. Oh and I can cross my legs more comfortably. It amazes me just how much I have loss in inches vs actual pounds, I have lost 24 lbs all together. But I believe in inches all over about 3 inches. I am noticing more energy and have pep to my step. My skin is a lot clearer. My watch band is shorter by 3 notches. the little things are what I am noticing. When I bend over I don't feel out of breath or I am going to fall over ( weeble wobble).
I am having a hard time with my sweet tooth, it is very hard to not want to get some ice cream or chocolate. Candy I can do without. I have no craving really for that, just chocolate and ice cream. I have gone as far as taking Popsicle and putting them in my mixer with almond milk and making like ice cream with that/ sometimes I have added un-flavored protein powder.
I feel better everyday. The energy is great to have with having younger kids and being able to have the energy to keep up. 😃

If anyone has any advice on how to make your stomach feel better after you eat something you shouldn't have or at too fast, I would GREATLY appreciate it!! It's painful on both sides of my abdomen (like to the point I'm doubled over and using a hot water bottle in addition to medicine) and I'm really nauseous (the thought or smell of food is 🤢).
