I just got notified yesterday of my approval (wow that was a long process as my insurance required 6 months of nutrition visits first) and my surgery date for sleeve surgery is August 27th!
Best of luck MariaC6. Make sure to keep in mind that all changes including eating habits need to be permanent lifetime changed. Saying this since I failed with my sleeve and now going into Bypass.

Hi PerezL84. I am scheduled for the Gastric bypass. The pre op is tough. Been hungry and tired but hoping that passes, just day 3.
Hi Shell4451... I am starting mine this week. It will be a revision surgery from sleeve to Bypass but I am more concern on the recovery since it will be my second bariatric surgery.

Awesome I will have to look into the Isopure because I really don’t like power Protein either. My Current weight is 306lbs, Height 5’3 BMI is 54. My goal weight is 160lbs. Why are you choosing bypass now above the sleeve?
Xfatboy007... I had the sleeve done in 2013. Lost about 70 lbs from 280 down to 210. However, my stomach pouch dialted causing me to eat more....as a matter of fat I was able to eat the same portions prior to the surgery. Now giving myself a second chance and based on my doctors advice with the bypass I should be able to reach my goal of 190 and maintain it along with my lifestyle changes and a good workout plan.

I’m scheduled for a RNY on Aug 11th assuming my insurance approves. Anyone else have Cigna insurance and know how long your approval took?
I’m trying not to get too excited since it’s not insurance approved yet.

@PerezL84 good luck to you! And yes, mindset is important. I’ve decided no food funerals. I will start my 2 week liquid diet August 13th and until then, I will eat what I normally eat but I’m making a conscious effort to eat less/smaller portions. And my liquid diet is truly liquid- shakes, Bone Broth and Jello limited to 800 calories a day. I’ve also purchased exercise equipment that will be delivered to my house about 3 weeks post op and I hope to start using at about 4 weeks post op. I started looking into WLS in January and am so thrilled that I got approved (I have BCBS of Michigan).

I'm having the sleeve done on the 5th too! This may sound crazy but I'm actually not nervous at all. I've been actively working towards this for 11 months (6 month long insurance-mandated program and then COVID) so I'm just glad it's finally happening!

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
