unexpected benefit of WLS

Recommended Posts

After losing 110+ pounds, I found myself to be pretty cold all the time. This past winter was just awful. Before WLS, I was always hot. I turned on the AC for the car as soon as I got in, and kept the house at 68 or lower. Now that summer is fast approaching, I am loving it! We are in southern Arizona and we've already had 100+ degree days - and have not needed the AC yet! I am comfortable at 80-85 degrees with the ceiling fan. I can even sleep at that temp, which was unthinkable in the past! Our electric bill is going to be so low this year. :)

Yeah...i was soooooo cold ALL. THE. TIME. Some people report this as lasting quite long. For me, I stopped feeling I was unnaturally freezing to death around the 9-10 month mark (a couple months after my weight stabilized). At 1.5 years post op, i *think* I feel cold and hot like normal people now...

Hi I live in AZ too, in the Phoenix area. Seems to be warming up early this year. I just had my surgery this Feb and have lost about 25 pounds.I am very sensitive to heat and have not noticed a difference as yet. It will be interesting to see if that changes as I lose more weight. We are retired and usually travel in our motor home during the summer. With the corona still upon us,we don't want to get stuck getting sick while on the road so we are going to stay home this year. We will see how we do with the heat.

You will be amazed. There is a reason whales and seals have blubber - it is insulation! Once yours is gone, your body will be able to actually regulate its temperature so much better. However, this coming winter may be uncomfortable for you. I found myself actually looking forward to summer so I wouldn't be so cold.

This is one of the things I'm looking forward too!! I always feel like the hot, fat, sweaty person in the summer!!! Now, it's 68 degrees out, and I have my heat set to 72 and I'm still cold! LOL!! Looking forward to a hot summer for a change!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
