What is the average weightloss at 6 months?

Recommended Posts

I had my RNY back on October 16th 2019 and I started at 256lbs now I'm 170lbs.

But my average monthly loss is roughly 17 pounds a month. Is this good or average ? My goal weight is 150. And I'm almost there. I am also 5'9" . IMG_20200324_202818_329.jpeg

That's a great average and for your start weight good too, some will have an average that is higher, others lower...but it does depend on many things...start weight, age, gender, exercise, height and of course calories consumed.

You will find everyone is different...

But personally by 6 months I lost around 140lbs but started at 322lbs.

That's roughly 22lbs a month but I've worked hard on the diet been very strict.

No two are the same - for example the guys here slam the weight off

Who really cares about time or per month- you are rocking it and getting healthy, Keep up the good work and congratulations.

You look amazing! What you are doing is obviously working. Keep up the good work!!

I only had my bypass done in March, but in 2013 I had a sleeve done. By 6 months I had lost 80lbs. But again, that was a sleeve. Bypass may be faster.

Also, to echo other comments, it all depends on the person. You’re young so it will come off faster. Lucky!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
