Trying to wait patiently !!

Recommended Posts

I went to my consultation Sept 17. Everything was going great. Doc said It could be done rather quickly because I am self pay.My PCP and Surgeon sent me for sleep study.BOOM I have sleep apnea. Glad to find out ahead of time ,but added 8 weeks on to the wait. All my clearances are done.I have been on my CPAP 2-3 weeks.(6 weeks are required by my doc prior to surgery.).What kind of time frame did any of you have from final clearances to surgery date? I was really hoping for somewhere between December 21-January 2. Dou you think this is possible ?

( I drive school bus, so that is my vacation.):):)

I started my journey at the end of August and I just found out today that I am going to have my procedure done on January 7th. The insurance company lost the fax from my doctor's office!! Plus the girl handling my case was fired!! So it has been a long journey, but don't give up!!!

Thanks for getting back. I'm planning on getting mine done in Columbus. Where are you going. If it's the same place, I'll give them a call .The LPN they assigned me to seems to be dragging her feet every step of the way.I have had faxes(w/ times and dates) sent directly to her office, and she doesn't seem to get them for a week or so. Then it has taken her over a week to get them to the doctor in the same building.Sorry, I am just frustrated.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair. Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end. That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
