Surgery was yesterday, rough first day/night :(

Recommended Posts

Not going to lie...I was miserable yesterday...slight fever, dry heaving. Super bad pain and could t stomach anything and they wanted me to get they 3 mini cups of broth to soothe my stomach. Home today thankfully and sipping all the time but I do feel that cold lump in my throat and pain in my tummy when I drink. I am loving the mini burps I am starting to have here and there as such a relief. Question - does the pain get better in time..after sipping, my mouth is also bone dry ...all the time ...just hoping it gets easier .

Are you getting anti-nausea meds? There is also med for stomach cramps, levsin, that really helped me. My pain was OK, but sipping Water caused cramps and my stomach felt like it was flip flopping. I was able to handle sugar free popsicles. It gets better though. Takes a couple of days for me though.

Oooh, I hope it gets better for you soon! I have read a lot of the posts on here, and most people seem to say the first 4 to 5 days are the worst. I'm on for Monday, so I have been reading all the accounts I can. Sending healing thoughts!

Each day will get better. Try warm broth.

Hang in there, the first few days I was miserable, felt like I had been run over by a truck. 1 week later I was cleaning out a linen closet and a whole different person. Go slow, stay hydrated and get plenty of rest.

Try warm broth

broth is the key and If you have the energy make it yourself - The store bought stuff is loaded with Salt and chemicals - Sip slowly - I found Warm liquids were easier then cold Water right after surgery -

That first night post-op was miserable with the nausea. By the time I got home, though, I was fine. I never had any pain. Glad you're doing okay.

I definitely had spasms but not much pain. Everyday gets easier. I remember looking at cups of Water thinking I would never get it down. The first time I finished a pudding cup was cause for celebration. Stay strong it gets easier every day!

Yes, it gets better as time goes on. My recovery was rough as well. My husband had to help me with every thing from sitting up, getting out of bed, the bathroom, and showering for the first week or so. By the 3rd week I could do everything by myself and had minimum discomfort.

So great to hear. Your weight loss is really impressive! Any tips for post-op diet stages?

Thanks love! And yes ma'am. The best advice I can give is to follow your surgeon's directions for each stage and when you get to the regular food stage, do what is sustainable for you. I definitely wouldn't compare what you are eating to anyone else, because everyone's body and how different foods effect them is different. Also what works for some may not work for the next. So if it's working for you regardless of what someone else is doing, keep doing it. And if you do decide to eat a "No no" food, moderation and self control is key :)

I had my surgery this last Monday. I was nauseous overnight at the hospital but fortunately didn't need to receive any heavy pain medication there. I got sick Tuesday night after returning home as I drank to much too quickly (and gagged on the liquid pain medication they prescribed me). By Thursday, I was beginning to realize the burping after drinking was probably a sign that my new little pouch was full. On Friday, armed with that knowledge, I was able to get in almost all of my recommended Fluid and had very little burping. Every day will get better as you start to get a feel for your new body. Just try to move as much as you can, and keep rest as you need it. I'm only 5 days post-OP, but I'm already starting to feel better. Just give it a few more days...YOU'VE GOT THIS!!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
