2 weeks today since my RNY surgery. Doing and eating great.

Recommended Posts

Well so far my stomach has handled all the foods that I've swallowed over the last week. Of course around 1oz to 2oz at a time well chewed (otherwise noted weights). 4oz of air-fryed Oldbay seasoned salmon fillet fits perfect, 3oz of air-fryed lemon pepper chicken breast, 4oz air fryed Oldbay seasoned Mahi Mahi, 3oz apple/cherry/hickory smoked pulled pork without sauce (not needed damn it was good. I smoked and vacuum sealed the day before surgery), 1/4 cup roasted salted peanuts, and 4 oz air fryed shrimp with Oldbay seasoning. I am very happy with my progress so far. I'll stick with meats, seeds and nuts for another couple of weeks and then try to incorporate some veggies. I hope everyone is healing well.

Wow! So glad you are doing so good. Men must be different because I sure wasn’t that much real food 2 weeks out! I was still on liquids! Good for you!

Wow, your surgeon has a VASTLY different and aggressive post op diet at two weeks than mine did. At two weeks I was ecstatic when I got to eat two teaspoons of cottage cheese or mashed potatoes... By the end of the second week I was up to a whole tablespoon! This just underscores what I've been saying all along, that there's no consensus between these WLS surgeons on ANYTHING!

I'm glad to hear it's going well for you, SDS! You will hit your goal in no time!

I have always been a fast healer. I guess that's the reason, but I'm not complaining.

My surgeon was told before surgery that I don't care for mushy foods, he said I can be the blender then by chewing well. I didn't ask about the spices. He said try different items and wait an hour before drinking, if no pains or dumping then drink and try something different each meal or day. So far I can't complain. I see my surgeon on the 20th and I will have the list of items that have been tolerated so far. Hated cheddar cheese before surgery but love it now very small 1oz amounts. Still love pepper jack cheese at 1oz at a time as well.

Technically I have. When I saw my surgeon the first time he asked me what was my goal weight, I said 220lbs. I've since changed my mind. 170 to 175 is my goal now.

I actually had to raise my calories to 800 a day before I dropped 2 more pounds. Before I know it I will be eating sushi again. Without the rice. Damn I want some wasabi.

Wow!! That’s a whole lot of food for being two weeks out. I can barely eat 1-2 ounces of soft food at 7 weeks out.

cant handle white or dark chicken. Haven’t even been released to eat white chicken or pork yet. No way do I feel safe even with seeds or nuts yet. This is the most aggressive diet that I have seen post op. Hope everything continues to go well for you.

congratulations to you!

HI! So glad you are doing well!

I had surgery the same day and am doing well, but definitely not eating the same foods or amounts. My Dr. just released me to mushies and so far I've had tuna salad and egg salad. For the tuna, it's one of the small packages with some mayo (about 2.6 oz) and for the egg salad, I made it with 2 eggs (total about 4 oz) but could only eat half. Today I'm probably going to try some lunch meat with soft cheese.

I remember you had the surgery the same day. I'm glad you are doing good. I was in heaven with the lunch meat, that was the first thing I tried during my liquid stage. After that was the low fat great value brand mozzarella cheese sticks. They pull apart into thin sections so they were easier on my new stomach. Hope this helps you and keep up the good work! I actually had to increase my calories to 800 a day before I started loosing weight again. I eat 3 main Proteins and 3 Snacks like yogurt, salmon, cheese stick, or lunch meat a day. So really 6 proteins a day.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
