I am 11 days out from surgery

I was cleared to start purée diet on Jan 13th 🥳
I did a weight check in today and I am down 8.4 pounds from surgery day weight!

This liquid diet has been quiet a struggle for me.

I lost eight lbs since 12/4/19.

The liquid diet was no problem for me.

Sometimes I think about going back on it because my weight has stalled

I was sleeved 12/12/19, I weighed myself today, I have lost 27lbs total since surgery day. Whoot whoot !!! That is damn near a pound a day. I have been mainly focusing on fluids/protein shakes. I can only eat about an a ounce of food at a time. Try to do this three times a day. I have decided to go to a plant based diet to maintain my weight loss. This surgery has drastically opened my eyes to a new way of thinking.

Are you eating enough? I heard people talk about a stall 2-5 weeks out, I’m sure it will pass soon! Just keep it up!!

Sleeved on 12/31, weighed myself on Wednesday and have lost 10 lbs. I'm finding a successful routine with my liquids and managing to get to 60ish grams on the Protein. I feel like I've drank more liquid in the last week than in the last year! I'm on liquids for a total of three weeks before moving to the glorious puree stage!

That is so awesome! My surgery was 12/30. I’m having a hard time meeting my goals 😖😖

I was sleeved on 12/11/19 weighed myself yesterday...down 25lbs. I was stalled out at 17lbs down for 2 weeks(frustrating indeed) but I realized that I wasn't drinking enough Water (thanks for the reminder Constipation!). This past week I really focused on getting 60-70 oz of water in addition to my 60 grams of Protein. I was released to full activity on this past Thursday, so I will see what exercising will add to the scale moving more.

As far as loose skin, I feel pretty lucky, mine is super minimal. I’m pretty sure with a little exercise I won’t have any.

I'm 4 weeks out today and have been at 23lbs down for the last week or so, really fluctuating with a pound less. I hate how this messes with my head lol like you feel like it's not enough but realistically it's more than I would've done on my own lol I keep trying to tell myself this.

I do need to work on getting more Water in, I've gotten a lot better at getting my Protein in but I don't think I'm getting enough calories either.

I want to start working out. I bought some weights and have an elliptical..just gotta use it lol

edit to add: What are you guys eating at the stages you're in? How may calories? I'm on my 2nd week of purees; I've had scrambled eggs, tuna, refried Beans and homemade guacamole so far. I don't have an actual schedule to follow on how I eat though. I "feel" hungry often but get full so fast. I see my dietician for the 1st time post op on February 11th.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
