7 day post op RNY Stomach is loving 2 oz. of Chicken lunch meat.

Recommended Posts

I tried 1 piece of black forest ham on day 5. Chewed to a pulp, went down fine. The next morning at 1am I ate one more with no problems. So I woke up this morning after fasting last night for labs this morning with my PCP office. I explained what I had done and explained that my surgeon was made aware that I ate lunch meat already. He said some people advance and heal faster than others. He said I'm at least craving Protein. He asked if I've been getting all my protein in each day. I told him yes as I am. He said he will confer with my surgeon at the end of the day. He said try a few pieces of turkey or chicken is what he would recommend first. So on the way home I went to Walmart and bought some chicken lunch meat. Came home and eat 2 pieces well chewed, wated for 20 minutes. No growling, no distress just totally quiet. So an hour later I ate 5 slices that I weighed the meat out to be 2oz.. 1.5 hrs later I'm still great.

That sounds like a feat at 7 days! It's good you are letting your team know what you are up to. How tall and heavy are you?

I'm not having any problems meeting my Water 64oz or Proteins 70grams each day. No more soreness or pains. Still not lifting over 30lbs. Feel like before surgery.

No but it seems like some doctor's directions for times seem to be different. I won't even eat Mashed potatoes. I don't like mushy foods. I told my surgeon this and he said I would have to be the blender then. Chew till everything that was a solid, is a pulp.

Next morning update. I had no signs and no dumping from eating the 2oz of chicken, so it's on the menu today. I plan on 2oz for lunch and dinner and that will be 20grams of Protein. Plus I'll have a Breakfast shake with 30 grams. In-between these times I will have a cup of Fair Life skim milk with 13grams of protein. Total of 63grams protein.

As long as your doctor didn't scold you, I guess it's okay. It's unusual to eat solid food that quickly as your stomach is still healing, but glad it is working out for you.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
