I was sleeved in December of 2013. I lost a total of 50lbs before i ended up getting pregnant and regaining the weight. I currently am more than i weighed pre surgery and my doctors have recommended that i be revised to a bypass. I am a bit scared and want to know of anyone else’s experience with a sleeve to a bypass after a regain. Was your weight loss after your bypass successful? Do you have more issues now than before? Can you tolerate less foods? It will be very helpful in my decision making. Thank you all♥️

I can't help you with your questions, but I just wanted to let you know I'm on the same journey. I was sleeved in 2017, lost 100lbs and have since gained back more than half of that. After reading the forums and consulting with some surgeons, I'll be having a revision to bypass in early March. I'm hoping that that, plus following some version of a low-carb/keto/paleo type diet, that I'll be able to keep the weight permanently off.

I haven't had a revision either, but a lot of people have - hopefully some will chime in!

Totally unrelated reason for my bypass 1 week+ after my sleeve, just wanted to wish you luck, it'll be so worth it, even though any surgery is scary and we have to weigh up the pros and cons of having it done.

I'm sure you will get some good info from those that have gone through it that'll hopefully ease any niggling doubts you have :)

Thank you all. I do have GERD but also suffer from other health issues. I have been back and forth on wanting it and no wanting it out of fear. I have started the process so many times hopefully this time i would get the information needed to keep me going with it.

Then just RNY as an option, Good Luck 💚

So share your exact fears here and we can help you work through them? :)

I would say some of my fears are from being sleeved. I cannot tolerate certain fruits AT ALL since my sleeve. My Vitamin levels are always low. And i guess you can say just a fear of having another major surgery and not knowing the outcome...

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
