First Nutrition Visit Post op

Recommended Posts

My surgery date is tomorrow. Woo-hoo!! I just made my post op appointments and they scheduled my next nutrition appointment 3 weeks after my surgery date. Is that too far out? I could be over thinking it but I could get dehydrated by then.

Does that seem too far out? Should I reschedule for a sooner date?

Nah. It seems reasonable to me. That tells me they are gonna have you on some kind of liquid plan afterwards for about 3 weeks. And until you start progressing in the stages, you might not need the nutritionist yet?

Mine was 4 weeks post-op and due to holidays and such it'll actually be 6 weeks. 3 weeks shouldn't be bad.

It's been awhile, but I think mine was scheduled about three weeks out, too.

I thought mine was supposed to be a month out, but they didn't schedule one, so while I was at my one month visit, they said they don't schedule them unless you have questions. I probably would have asked to schedule one had they not told me at my visit that I'm doing really well and to keep up what I'm doing.

Thanks for everyone for your input. I think my nerves have me nervous about everything.

You’re completely fine mines I did a 2 weeks after my surgery and before that I was going to her like constantly. I would also suggest going to your doctor a month after surgery to get all the blood work for the Vitamins and levels to get a starting point and if they can prescribe you Iron or most of the vitamins that saves soo much money well it did for me.

I am eight weeks out, my nutritional visit is at 3 month post op. My nutritional info was presented pre surgery and reviewed. My first blood work is then too. This way my body has had time to adjust post surgery and provide more accurate test results I guess crazy how different everyone's team is!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
