Be sure to obtain all the medical records, including labs, surgical report, and anesthesia record BEFORE bringing any of this up to anyone. Funny how those records can become "closed" if something is amiss. Just go to the Medical Records department, fill out the form, and they will get the paperwork for you within a couple of days, if not then and there. The anesthesia record will tell what drugs were used and how much. Both the surgical and anesthesia reports should say that a "time out" was performed before the procedure started. The time-out is the last, stop gap safety opportunity before the actual procedure starts. This is where the results of the pregnancy test should have been mentioned, if not before.
Our hospital policy is that ANY female of child bearing age (12-50) has a pregnancy test unless she has had a hysterectomy. Anyone outside that age gets a test if they have had a period within a year.
Do you remember being asked to pee in a cup when you went in?
Yes according to the surgeon office I had a pregnancy test that came back negative on October 22 but it's clear to me that it might of been too early to tell.. but I've got a meeting with my surgeon this coming up Friday

First and foremost I don't want to get all grandma like on ya but it makes you kinda get a little teary eyed. What a story to tell the little one.....talk about determination!!!!! I don't know what your position in life is about having a baby right now but something in this universe says NOW is the time if a pregnancy can get through all those hoops and still come out OK!!

It may complicate weight loss and muddy up the nutritional Water a bit but by golly a baby is a pretty amazing reason to slow down the weight loss......you can still get healthy during a pregnancy!!!!

Wow this is all so crazy to me. I'm in Australia and not once did anyone do a pregnancy test on me or even ask if I might be pregnant pre op, the nurse mentioned early on that they recommend waiting a year to get pregnant but it doesn't always happen and they've had a few patients get pregnant in the pre-op liquid stage and still have surgery and everything was fine. There's so much sewing that goes on in America, it's just not something that people here do much of.

I'm checked into the hotel near the hospital and just had my last protein shake of the day. My mom has kindly gone down to the restaurant alone so as not to make me die from watching her eat dinner. Checking in at the hospital tomorrow at 10:50am. So ready!

Six months pots-op as of yesterday. I celebrated with a HIIT class where I was challenged to do a wall-assisted handstand. I truly thought there's no way in hell that I can get up there. Well... I proved myself wrong. The instructor said, "Just try getting one foot up there." I tried and it was so easy, that the other foot went up, and the next thing that I knew, I was standing on my hands with my legs up in the air, leaning against the wall.
Last weekend I challenged myself to a 10-mile hike, and I was SURE that my legs would be non-functional that night and the next day. But that didn't happen at all.  But I did learn that I need a new hiking boot or shoe. I've got a goal of walking the Portuguese coastal route of the El Camino later this year, and I good shoes will be essential.
I've hit another weight loss stall, but that's to be expected. I am so close to my goal already that if it does take 6 more months to get that last stone off, that's okay with me. And I am building muscle, so that stone may never move. S'alright friends, s'alright.
