Years ago, I posted, asking about a good bra for my 'empty windsocks'. Many said that it couldn't be done without spending upwards of $50 each. WAAAAYYY outta my disability income budget!

So, wanted to share what I've found, as I'm pretty sure that not everyone has a huge bra budget.

Words to look for, encapsulation, full coverage, no bounce, support, no uni-boob, etc...

Here are some that I've purchased & loved as well as some I may purchase in the future:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002RAMCTS/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

(Needed to order 1 band size larger, and dispute the $6.95 return fee, which they waived) https://www.onehanesplace.com/shop/onehanesplace/champion-the-smoother-sports-bra-b1277?cm_vc=onehanesplace_desktop_OrderHistory

I have been rocking the uni-boob since a week out from surgery. I have a drawer full of older bras that I am waiting to get into. Thanks for all the bra info!

There's an easy solution to the bra dilemma-don't wear one! My girls have been free since I was in college in the 70's (and yes, I didn't burn one but threw it off a cliff while leading a hike at summer camp-got pix to prove it) and I really should wear one but I can't stand them.

I don't remember which movie this came from, but it's a quote I embrace and use often--my girls are like yard dogs-I let them off the leash and they wander all over the place!

So free the tatas-you'll save a fortune in bra money and feel so much more comfortable!

This is a subject I can fully relate to! Just a couple days ago, I noticed that the girls are shrinking out of my "good" bras and I'll need to look into replacements soon. There's only so much adjustment you can make in terms of tightening the band and straps.

Much as I'd like to embrace JRT Mom's suggestion, I can't stand it when the yard dogs get off the leash and wander all over the place.

At home, I just rock a decent sports-bra. Heck, I often sleep in them because I just can't stand the tatas hanging down on my belly. Besides, they come in handy for my AM yoga routine.

I admit this is one place that I've indulged myself since surgery. I don't spend $50/bra, but I will splurge and get Victoria's Secret. They have the occasional good sale where you can get one for $30. Don't forget to check the Clearance section. I got one of my faves there for $19.99!

Other brands I like: Vanity Fair and Bali. I can usually get them at Kohl's at a good price, especially if I have a %off coupon.

Personally, the key here is to make sure you have the right fit. As I've shrunken out of my regular bras, I've had to get re-sized. And I totally agree with TheRealMelsHere! I always go for full coverage. Just a minor word of warning on "full coverage". Some of them also offer padding. I'm not a fan of padding, but hey, to each his own.

@S@ssen@ch Thanks for the tip on VS, always thought they were way out of my price range. It's good to know that they have bras with full coverage!!

This is me as well, got to keep them contained lol

I had put off buying new bras & then started suffering upper back pain. Went to my acupuncturist & jokingly said the pain was from my badly fitting bras which were way too big (I could pleat the cups). Ding ding ding ding yes it was my bras. So off I went to get properly fitted. Dropped from 18E to 14F (think I might be almost a 14E though now). And miracle of miracles no more back pain.
I went to a large upmarket department store to get fitted where they knew what they were talking about & put me in numerous brands & styles till they found one that worked best for me. Nothing worse than badly fitting uncomfortable bras. Of course it ended up being an expensive brand sigh but I bought a nude one and then a couple of weeks later they had a special deal & I got 2 more at 50% off. Woo hoo.

Does anyone know a good store that does accurate bra fittings?

Soma, if you have one near you. Their bras are expensive but they do good fittings. I had no idea I was wearing a bra that was sooo far off what I should be wearing!!!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
