... and riding my bike without it feeling (or looking) like my ass has swallowed the seat...

Too funny! That's what I feel like too. Or how about how your gut hangs all over the place from bending over to grab the handlebars? I was in a bike store once and they had REALLY big, wide seats for sale. I told my hubby that's what I needed! LOL

Linda,

My port sight has a bit of an indent, I was looking at my stomach in the mirror and thought it looked like one of those pillows with a big button sewn through the middle of it.

Maybe once I get back on my bike, my new button will keep my stomach from sagging down... :nervous

Mine is, too! It's almost like I have two belly buttons! :)

I think I can feel my port but I don't have any extra "belly buttons" It's kind of weird. It freaked me out a little the first time I touch it. Well maybe more like grossed me out. LOL

Ok it's official. My weight hasn't budged in a week. However.....I wore a pair of jeans today that I haven't worn in about a year. They were a little snug around the middle but they FIT. :whoo:I think Mollybrown might be right. Maybe everything just catching up. Inches lost are just as great as pounds. I'll take it!

I was told by the nurse at my post op visit to NOT scale watch......to instead let my clothes speak for me, she said they would speak volumes and as the pounds melted and the sizes changed you would not need any scale to tell me that I had lost.

It is not the amount of weight or #'s.......it is how we FEEL in our clothes.

I am proud to say that I have gone down 2 jean sizes since my surgery. I have no idea what I weight because I will not weigh again until my Dr's appt on the 10th.

I was so happy today when I put on these jeans I have not worn in over 15 months. And they ZIP.......Yippe I have been living in stretch pants with elastic waistband since I cannot recall.

My DH said sweetheart your baby is gone. I had a huge stomach and it is gone......for real....LOL

So my advice is don't scale watch......just follow the program to the letter and watch our bands work for us.

Kristin,

Congrats on your jeans... Today my daughter told me my jeans looked ridiculous, that there were so big it almost looked sad.

I think in Lapband speak, that is called a NSV, or non-scale victory.

Hi,

I would like to address the slow weight loss and hunger that you guys are experiencing. My surgeon has mandatory meetings that you must attend pre and post op. At every appointment with him and at all the meetings I have attended, plus the nutritionist I had to see...all of them stressed 64 0z of liquids per day and the more Protein the better...70 grams at least. They say that with the high Protein you will not get hungry and you will lose weight faster. They also say that when I start introducing regular foods (Christmas Day!) to make 3/4 of what I eat protein and only a small spoonful of potatoes, etc. This will ensure an adequate protein intake.

I hope this helps you guys and will keep me out of bandster's hell!

Molly, I'm new here and I have not been banded yet, but I had to tell you that you are the most positive person, I enjoy what you are writting, I hope that you will stay close by cause I know for a fact I will need your advice. I just went too my seminar tonight 11/26, but with the office being slow right now they said it could be as soon as 3 weeks. Is that to quick. Thanks for your input.

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
